I want to start filming some this season and know like nothing about video cameras. I looked at best buy and saw the cheapest ones were like $200 those are probably not very good. I want something under like $ 500 prefearably around $350 $ 400ish, would ones in this price range be any good? If so what are some of them? I don't need a very good camera just reasonable. Also what kind of software should i get?

Are you new to editing? if so, use iMovie if you have a MAC or for windows just start by using Windows Movie Maker.

i used to swear by adobe premiere, but now im really into AVID. but i can use it for free cuz my school has labs with it. forthe average consumerdownload adobe for free or get final cut if u use macs

get like a panasonic trv 500 or 900 or like a lil sony handycam like the dcr-hc36 is pretty sick! then get a wide angles lens and fisheye i say the trv would be ur best bet and its 3ccd unlike the handycam

i used movie maker and its not bad if you learn how to manipulate it, but compared to everthing else, yea, it blows

wrong, if you can work manual settings, you get fine color out of 1 chip cameras, the opturas are great for this, i worked with them for a school class and as long as you white balance and focus right, the color is pretty good
