Vid for the super old schoolers (circa 89)

something about the unevenness of the moguls and the 200cm+ skinny skis maching through there makes it scarier i'd say, especially when you throw in an amped COSSACK first hit, or keeping composure on a helicopter.

its all uneven and they didnt have jumps. todays courses are so much better. its actually fun. the jumps are still retardedly kicky but the even turns are surprisingly fun

Manicured bump runs are kinda lame imo. its the same motion the whole run. natural bumps are unpredictable and really test your reaction skills. way more options and lines.

Edgar bustin out triples and a spin when a lot of those guys were throwin single daffy.  Mach One was def one of the hardest courses back then.

I loved those hot pink Bolle Goggles. That style of goggle was the best I've ever owned. Great peripheral vision. I wish someone would make some gogs like that again.

To the guy who said that triple sucked; you got no clue. It was actually pretty clean and back then the jumps were all fall aways. It was basically like building a kicker on top of about a 10 foot cliff into a mogul landing. Now they have much better setups that are more like a table with a well softened landing area. It's so much easier to ski stuff out now than it was in 89.

The guy threw a triple off the fist hit, good consistent speed throughout the run, held his line and his knees stayed close together. That would have been a podium run on the world cup any day.

You know what's funny about all of this...

People (myself included) are finding this way more enjoyable to watch and "cool" than if I posted a video of a current mogul comp.

that was ridiculous

seeing as they were basically landing right in the moguls the tricks really aren't as easy as they seem

and scott ogren is one intense man

My bad. I shoulda recognized that. my first USSA contest i coached for SSWSC was on Solitude. Only it wasn't all sunny and nice like that vid. It was typical Breck -10 with howling wind. Oh yeah Edgar and Nelson both rocking the Raichle/ Full tilts. Wonder when those Spider strech pants are coming back!!

Good god the combined assault of those incredibly steezy helicopters and the massive fist pumps at the end just blew my mind.

It was almost surprising to see all those dudes without helmets. And that run was awesome. It was a comp set in the middle of a normal moguled slope.

ive never been on a true "natural" bumps run. but i know that the "manicured" ones are fun. maybe not as exciting, but still pretty fun

i work with a guy who was on the pro mogul tour back then, hes about 39 now but his knees are beat to shit.
