Vertical Toe Release

Similar to how leaning forward too much will release your heal vertically (forward lean test), is there a binding that'll release the toe vertically for landing too hard in the backseat or just weird falls? Seems like the idea of a vertical release should be applied to the front and rear of the foot. This binding design would be niche for folks like me who've previously had catastrophic injuries and are getting back into it again, not big mountain/big air.

I snapped my tib/fib last season by landing with all my weight in the backseat on one leg, and since I've been back this season I've had a couple times where it'd have been really sweet if my toe ejected vertically e.g. today...

Knee bindings are the only bindings specifically designed to release in a back-seat fall, as the heel piece can release horizontally as well as vertically. The pivot 12/14 dual toe releases vertically from the toe piece, but usually in more of a 'tip catch' context, rarely due to being in the back seat when you go down.

I'll look into the knee bindings. They seem like the same design as the Looks though.

Looks have a 180 degree release, allowing for vertical toe release. The 18 toe doesnt but the 12 and 14 do

I broke my leg in FKS 14's without having my DINs cranked up. They were at like 8.5 in the toe and 9 in the heel. I'm 5'10" 165lbs. I can verify the toe does not release vertically on hard backseat lands :/

Thanks for the responses folks

The pivot heel won't release horizontally, it just pivots so that it can kind of guide the boot out of the toe piece so that the release is a little smoother in a twisting fall. Also helps with the elastic travel by keeping the heel completely locked in until the boot is all the way out of the toe piece.
