My school ski club is looking to go to vermont we live in PA. Obviously killington or some place would be nice but are there any places that are top notch in vermont that won't break the bank? because for my school to go it has to be a price most in the ski club can do with the help of a little fundraising but yea any recomnedations that meet this?

Magic. Literally half the price of Okemo.

If you ski club can actually ski, it's the fkn JAM. Raw as hell, steep as hell, chill as hell.

If you're the oorganizer, talk to Matt Lillard @ Magic, I'm pretty sure he can save you even more dough, and if you need help sourcing a bus one of my best freinds' father is senior VP at Peter Pan so let me know.

i looked and mount snow only has 15% black diamonds... is there enough challenging stuff there? right now i think im leaning towards okemo i didnt look at magic yet

put it this way... Unless you're skiing park, Mt. Snow sucks the pus out of dead donkey dicks. A double black at Okemo is a blue square at Magic... Any of the double blacks at Magic would be roped off for eternity at Okemo.

If you want to be bored as fuck, go to Okemo. If you want to ski your fuckin face right off your head and not have anybody give you shit for hucking your meat all day long, go to Magic. The website/trail map does not do it any justice btw but it's pretty much a smaller version of MRG. I'd be happy to show you guys around if you come out.

im not the counselour for the club but im one of the more active members and am pretty tight with the counselour and i forget which one he is looking at now but its whack as shit. so i was looking for ones to send us to a good one. i looked up magic ill show him that and okemo as of now. i'm gonna keep looking but magic does look pretty legit.

Yea this guys definatly right....mt snow outside the park is one of the most boring unchallenging (As far as eat coast goes) places in vermont. Plus its filled now with tons of little douche kids everywhere since there park is pretty sick.

for my ski trip I only went to mount snow....but let me tell you if your going up there go for more than 2 fucking days! that wasn't nearly enough time since mt. snow closes at 4

Depends on why's type of skiing you want to do, if you want park mount snow for sure killington too Stowe had some epic powder I hear and if you want steepness.. I have no clue I don't get out of the park all that much

My school ski club does one trip a year and we go to stowe and bromley. It's a three day trip with this basic itenerary:

Day 1 -Meet up at the school at 5 and drive up to bromley in our coach bus. We ski the day at bromley and afterwards we drive up to our lodge (The Round Hearth). Usually get there around 8 or so

Day 2 -We get up around 7 the next day and ski stowe, come back and chill in the lodge for the rest of the night. Usually we play pool, watch movies, chill in the hot tub (usually other schools will be there so some new girls to flirt with), and generally just unwind and talk about the day.

Day 3 -The last day of our trip we get up same time, pack everything into the bus (so we can leave directly after skiing) and go for our last day of skiing at stowe. After we finish skiing we leave for NY making one stop for dinner at a fast food place.

The trip costs us $320. It includes transportation, lift tickets, lodging, 2 dinners, and 2 breakfasts.

Stowe looks amazing and okemo looks pretty cool too I think im leaning towarsds them but if they say its too expensive maybe ill go with magic. Killington is on the wishlist too but its kinda unrealistic for the price. so as of now stowe is what im leaning towarsds thanks for all the input

smuggs is the whole package. its cheap, its got great terrain, old school lift system and great vibe.

JAY ofcourse.

All the other mountains recommended are good (Sugarbush is one of the better recomendations so far. Mt Snow isn't, unless you just want to ski park), but really the best option for amazing skiing at a great price is Jay. Best pow, best trees, cheap and updated...

Stowe, Sugarbush, jay peak and Okemo all look super dope I'm jus trying to see which is the best right now. I gotta check group rates and stuff but thanks for the recomendations. I looked up stowe and okemo and leaning towards stowe between them but im gonna go check out jay peak and sugarbush. they all look dope though so which ever one can hook my school up with the best rate will have a lot to do with the choice thanks guys

You are leaning towards Stowe if you want less expensive? LOL

Go Sugarbush. The Bush kills it in every category.

They have decent group rates. Stowe and smuggs both are good for that.

If you want to find a place to stay at stowe for good group rates check out the red fox inn. Same deal as the round hearth(might be the same people), but its closer to smuggs. I like the red fox much better than the round hearth, but prefer to ski stowe.

We haven't been to the red fox in like 4 years but they had nice dorms when we were there. It looks like its more of an inn now than a dorm (possible change in ownership)

O and it's also prolly gonna be in march as of now I'm trying to get it changed to feb but people be botching bout money. Does jay and sugarbush have good steeps and trees, I heard Stowe was good wth that kinda stuff and that's what I'm looking for the most.

agreed. Jay is absolutely my favorite mtn in vermont. the "jay cloud" dumps a lot of snow for the east. trees are great... the summit is pretty windy half the time and it gets extremely cold up there. nice extras too... new indoor water park and ice rink... new lodge/hotel and pretty damn good food.

March is better.

On March 8th 2010 I got 42in in 48hrs at Jay. It was crazy good. No other mountain got as much in VT...

I would say the steeps at Stowe are slighly better then Jay (pretty close to even), but the trees and backcountry at Jay are better then Stowe. I would rate Sugarbush's trees slightly better then Stowes as well...

My guess is Jay will cost you about half as much as Stowe...

yea the more i am looking at jay the cooler it looks. im still looking at stowe and sugarbush but jay is looking dope with all thier trees. and my friend wants us to go to mount snow cus of its park and im like dude we are going to vermont to do some legit skiing haha and thats how almost everyone in the ski club feels except him haha. but yea jays trees look sick

I'd say go with stowe for better group rates (unless you find a good place to stay near sugarbush). I go up every year president's week and the skiing is always good. Check out the round hearth for the cheapest lodging. Remember the more people on the trip and the sooner you book the trip, the cheaper the prices will be. 50 kids split about a $165,000 trip. Thats about $330 a kid. Not bad considering we have 5 chaperones coming along for a free ride

smuggs is one of the few places left in vermont where you can get great skiing without breaking the bank. mad river's sweet too, but if you have any beginner/intermediate skiers in your club it could be a little over their head

How many kids are going on this trip? You need to remember skiing is only a 1/3 of the trip (financially and time wise). You need a place to sleep and a way to get to the mountain. You can't take a school bus from Pennsylvania to Vermont

Smugglers Notch is By far the best Mountain in Vermont. Its cheep there are the best trails ive ever been on In Vermont. Okemo only has like one glades trail on the whole mountain. Everywhere on smugglers notch is glads pretty much. It snows like 6 inches everynight and they keep it ungroomed so there is powder there sometimes. Plus the powder builds up in the woods so its perfect. There is even a 30 foot clif that you can hit. Okemo is expesive and you will have to wait in long lift lines. There is almost no waiting in line a smugglers notch and in my opinoin that is one of the most important things. You cant beet smuggs.

from what i am seeing jay peak gets more snow then anywhere else in vermont? i am leaning towards this for cheapness and the fact that they got killer glades and lots of pow. being from PA i wanna get some of dat pow haha

Jay village inn and ceaderwood. Both are in the town of jay and offer really good deals.

You can prob get a deal for the jay hotel (on mtn) and there are a lot of deals on ski in/out condos. They are good about putting packages together, but if you cant make it work on the mtn the places in jay will hook you up.

Check youtube for jay pow, trees and cliffs. You wont be disapointed.

Smugglers is a sick mountain but the LONGEST fucking lift ride iv ever been on. God dam its so slow its so painful. I guess it keeps the mountain emptier but ill pay the extra money any day for a place with comparable terrain and a high speed lift. But all good because i don't ever wait in liftlines anyways thanks to being a boss and hiring a chill bro seasonal instructor to follow you aruonnd and cut the lift lines
