Any of you folks into hitting up the banks out there?

I recently picked up a track-worthy bike for the first time in a couple years since moving back from Oregon and I'll be getting back into it (Sacramento's building a new Velodrome).

No Boulder Indoor Cycling (BIC) closed down over 3 years ago. The new one is in Erie, about 15 minutes east. Its a super standard 250. Has a great Thursday Night Race Series.

But speaking of BIC, oh shit was that track wild

First off, it was the smallest Velodrome in the world at the time. around 160 M if I remember correctly. Oh and it was built incorrectly. Turn 3 was built too aggressively, so If you weren't on-top of your game you would get thrown off the track 20 ft below onto a cement floor. The straights were so short that you were just thrown into the next. No room for sprints and rail starts almost never worked.

One time I saw a guy on a brand-new carbon PlanetX get too cocky, hit the upper railing and flip over the side. Broke his frame and everything. Somehow he was able to not break anything. When we got to him, he stood up, noticed the puddle he was laying in, saw a liquid dripping from his leg and ran to the bathroom.

He literally shit himself.

But yea, that track was crazy. People would go too fast in the sprinters lane, completely miss the turn and run into the apex of it. Others would fly out and hit the railings. They used to do moto-pacing with like 35 people and that shit got hectic. Soooooooooo much sketchy shit went down there. You had to be an excellent bike handler to ride it.

But because it was too short, they couldn't run USAC races at it. No Pro or National Team would let their riders ride it and once summer hit nobody came. When it closed, my coach took it a part and stored it. So if you find a building, I can hook you up with a velodrome...

Holy shit I want that velodrome. That sounds so fucking hilariously chaotic and amazing.

I'm going to have to tell someone I know in Sacramento about it. He works for a commercial realtor and I'm sure he has some empty warehouses that could fit such a thing.

Just a warning, it's a risky business...
