Vegas For Birthday

So I was planning on going to Las Vegas for my birthday, I'll be turning 22.

I was looking for some advice/suggestions while being there, like just fun activities, places to check out, best prostitutes, best places to eat, evening entertainment, really whatever. I'd be going Early June so just curious if anyone here had suggestions.

vegas sucks unless you have a lot of money to spend.

Idk a guy on freemont street was letting you kick him in the balls for 5 bucks. Thats cheap entertainment

Vegas could be the most over rated place ever.

Granted I had an amazing time there becuase I was staying with the son of one of the owners / founders of one of the biggest hotels on the strip and got everything for free.

But that being said...its insanely expensive. Vegas is a lot like NYC. The more $ you have to spend the better a time you will have. If you expect to spend 3-400 a night there you will have a shitty time. We spent 10,000+ a night and balled out like crazy. Its not worth doing Vegas unless your doing it right...bottle service, vip, tables, etc.

MUCH better places to go to if you cant spend that type of money. Shit go to a tropical resort for half the amount of a vegas vacation

I'll agree with the above posters. Vegas, the Vegas you see in the movies, only happens if you have ten of thousands of dollars to spend per day. If you're hoping to spend only $500 or so per night in addition to hotel, then you're probably going to be let down. MUCH better places to go celebrate.

OP doesn't listen to all these fuck sticks in this thread. They can all fuck off.

Vegas is awesome and you'll have a kick ass time.

and everyone in here bitching about money. Get off NS and get a job. Nothing worse than money whiners

Gotta second this. Vegas is best with money. Plan to spend lots and get VIP tables bottle service etc, If you do its a fucking blast. Check out the spearmint Rhino (get VIP booth, don't go in the back room, hookers are better). Also, go to the pool during the day, that can be fun as well.

I've heard Montreal can be just as fun and everything there is 30% off right now.

As a bit of reference I think I spent about $5000 in 4 days including flights and a decent room at the Belagio. This covered everything from VIP at night clubs and a stripclub, eating, shopping and gambling. So a little more expensive than normal trips, but worth it.

We also had a group of 10 so that might have made VIP cheaper. A friend of mine new someone that kind of hooked us up.

My friends who went last year who are going with me this year said All I really needed for our 3-4 day trip was about $500 after flight and a room. Couldn't you still have a great time with only a budget of 100-200 dollars per day?

like how much did you shop and gamble for?

Vegas seems like the most idiotic place ever. Spend 10k in a night? Fuck that I'd rather go on a boat trip in indo for a month or spend a month at retallack. I just don't understand how someone can reason to spend 10 grand in one night, there is so much better stuff to spend money on. Like I feel bad when I blow 50 bucks on a pokie

I'll try and recollect costs, I came out $400

To the plus gambling, I spent prob $400-500 shopping. We ate shit food for the most part, getting drunk at the pool every day was $100, VIP/bottle service was $500+ every night but was tons of fun to do it and worth it, I'm not really into blowing tons of money in night clubs, but definitely fun once in a while in Vegas. Surprisingly, once you drop the money on VIP at the strip club, dances were like $20 a song which isn't bad. Went and shot machine guns for a few Hundy, that was kinda fun

Honestly man its not even remotely worth it if your going to spend that little a day. Vegas is a place where $ = fun and there is no way around it. Save your money and go on a vacation somewhere else.

While Vegas is a place to spend cash, and typically the more you spend the more fun you can have, you don't have to go for broke to have a good time.

My few tips:

Prices can be hyper inflated in places, especially nightclubs. Accept this and don't get pissy.

I'm not in the camp of getting a table at a nightclub - I'd much rather be in the thick of it on the floor from open to close, going hard and shit. Lot's of slimeballs treating it like a meat market, but usually there are plenty of people there simply having a good bloody time. I think the last time I went to Omnia I only got one drink? So something like $60 total for almost 7 hours of damn good fun.

If you do plan to head out, plan a tiny bit and get entry in advance and avoid the bulk of lines. I don't really understand the allure of standing in line for hours to save a few bucks.

Even though you're under 25, rent a car. So many sweet places within and around Vegas to check out. Most hotels still have free parking. It'll be hot in June, however. Avoid driving the strip at night unless you like not moving.

With said car, get booze at places like Lee's. Stash up and get sauced up before going out if that's your thing.

Poker is super fun, but there are local grinders looking to cash in on tourists. Bellagio poker room is my favorite. Good action, feng shui and the drinks come frequently. Despite their reputations, not a fan of the Wynn or Venetian rooms (the latter in particular). Learn the basics of craps (you can do this at a casino for free), find a low min table, and have a bloody good time (assuming things go well...)

Stay middle strip. It's tempting to stay further away to save cash, but to hell with that. High season weekends can be horrendously expensive for what you get, though.

In that same thought, check out options like Airbnb. I did for next month at city center, and not only do I get to avoid the weak-as-hell "resort fees" but I get a full kitchen and a fridge I can actually use for my personal effects. Saved tons of money and got a better room overall. Great for a group of people.

Groupon/living social are perfect for Vegas, so check those out for random fun things you can do. Never know what might pique your interest.

Good food options everywhere, both on the strip, downtown, and elsewhere in the vicinity. With a car, you can hit up some realllly good places off strip. Check outhttp://vegas.eater.com/ for an idea of some options.

So check it out. Between 3-5 guys we'd be looking around 30-50 dollars per person per day at a nice hotel, and even less at a shit-ball one. Penny Slots will be where I get messed up for free with liquor, and then clubs/pool parties for another $50-150 per day.

I'm not big into gambling nor am I big into titty bars and from what I've noticed thats the only thing that require the big Money. So if I take it light gambling and maybe a few dances here and there for titty bars I should be okay with my original budget, right?

Don't under estimate "penny slots" you can easily lose $100 an hour playing one. I'm not sure where this myth of free drinks came from but that doesn't usually happen unless you are dropping hundreds of dollars at the tables.

Clubs/Pool Parties are like $50 to get in, then $5-$10 a drink.

Might be able to bring a chick back to a hotel room with 4 other dudes but I doubt it.

You can have fun on the cheap for sure but don't expect the classic Vegas experience for cheap.

Dont let these fuck sticks get you down just because their broke asses had a shitty time in Vegas. Go poolside, get bottle service, hit up the poker rooms and some clubs and go balls deep. Vegas has never let me down. Dont stay more than 72 hours though.

How nice and where would I dress Nice?

mostly if you're going to night clubs, it's not necessarily dress like a Hollywood star, but some nice shoes and pants that fit are a good start, maybe a decent shirt as well. I still wore jeans.

The best way to do Vegas.

Morning:

Marquee Dayclub or Venus at Caesars, get a bottle and a cabana / table.

Afternoon:

Now that you're liquored up gamble. Craps, my personal favorite.

Night:

Dinner- Diablo's Cantina, best chicken nachos in the game.

Party- Hyde at Bellagio. (lots of money for a patio table... well worth it.)

Hakkasan at MGM. What else can I say about this place; widely known as the best club in Vegas.

XS Las Vegas at Encore. Yeah just do it.

1) Don't stay longer than 3 days.

2) Naps and water are your friends, don't be the sloppy guy at the club.

3) If the girl is smoking hot and initiates the conversation, it's too good to be true. She will charge you to "hang out"

Says the girl. Lol. Its a bit different for multiple reasons for guys.

Vegas is what you make of it. do what seems fun, and worry about the cost later, its the vegas way :)

I personally would much rather justt do it big in Austin, or Norleans, whistler, or quebec, or mexico for 1/3 the cost of vegas. But hey, thats just like my opinion.

depends on where you live. You say New Orleans is 1/3 the cost of Vegas? From where I am, I could fly to Vegas, and party for several days before I even reached the cost of airfare to New Orleans.

I live in Seattle... still would be way cheaper for me.

How much do you spend to party and stay in Vegas, per day? Youre a girl, right?

Ive gone to vegas the last 2 years, spent nowhere near the amount people are saying you have to spend in this thread, and still had a fucking awesome time on both trips. Was it the "vegas experience" you see in movies? Not at all but that doesnt mean its not a good time

Yes, I am a girl. You can spend as much or as little as you want in Vegas.

The first time I went to vegas I was flat broke. I got free airfare and free hotel by attending a timeshare seminar. The hotel was the Circus Circus which is a dive, but we didn't spend much time at the hotel anyway so it didn't matter. I spent about $100 a day on gambling, and another $100 at on food/drink. So on that visit it was about $100 a day. I don't usually lose at gambling. I'll just get a $100 rack at the MGM and play poker. It keeps you entertained for hours and you get free drinks.

Another time I went I got free airfare and hotel because I won a trip to Vegas on the radio. I wasn't as broke this time, but I also won Mariah Carey tickets and so I sold those to some sorry sap for $250/ticket, and then used that $500 to go clubbing and gamble the rest of my trip. So that trip was virtually free.

Another time I went was my bachelorette party. We got a room that was $650/night at the Palms. We did bottle service ($250) by the pool in a cabana ($150) each day. We went gambling and clubbing at night ($500) and so on that trip I guess I spent about $1500/day.

So yeah--you can spend a little. Or you can spend a lot.

Honestly just do it, It's cool even to just see once in your life.

Oh, and the $650/night room we got was actually a $1000+/night room, but I looked online for promotions and called them directly and they are actually willing to negotiate, so we paid $450 the first night since it was a Thursday and $650 the following two nights on Friday/Saturday.

So yeah--pro tip: call and ask for a cheaper rate.

Well my experience there us always gonna be different from most because i go down there to play in the softball world series tournament, so a bit of my time is chewed up by that.

But besides that we dont really set an itinerary its more of wake up get drunk and see where it takes us. I personally think freemont street is better than the strip. And you can get a limo down to there for dirt cheap.

Carrot top is funny and worth the 50 somethin dollar ticket. $1 beers at casino royale. Fat tuesdays has giant captain cokes for $5 I believe. Harrahs buffet is pretty good, though there are definitely better in vegas. Basically though it doesnt matter how much you spend, if youre with fun people youre gonna have a good time.

If you don't have very much money, you can just walk in and out of the hotels down the strip and site see--some of the hotels are cool just to walk through. Check out the lions at MGM and do some penny slots--they give you free drinks while you gamble, so you can just do cheap slots if you don't have very much money and get drunk for free, do the roller coaster at New York New York, and there are also crazy rides at the stratosphere, and then there are some free shows you can go to--like you can go on The Price is Right. If you go online and search for coupons ahead of time, you can find things like BOGO lunches. Also, if you like texas hold em, you can go get a $100 rack at any poker room (MGM is my fav) and sit down and play poker for hours on end and chat with other people.

I live here in Vegas. Always remember there are two (three) Vegas cities out there. Main strip which is casinos, tourists, clubs, gambling, etc. If you want to stay on strip choose somewhere between MGM and Wynn. That's where all the fun is these days. Old vegas which will be more Fremont area. Cool stuff is up there and check out container park if you're just looking to kill some time.

Finally, there is the rest of Vegas which is a really nice city honestly. Lots of normal people and things. Don't forget of all the off strip stuff you can do. Helicopter tours, rent vehicles in the desert, drive fast cars on a track, and all sorts of cool stuff.

I get people don't like Vegas. Honestly I don't much care for the strip either. Not really my thing personally. But those who say Vegas sucks have either 1. never been here, or 2. only come here for bachelor/bachelorette parties.

Feel free to PM me if you have extra questions. I currently live in SE Vegas but am moving over to Summerlin in a few weeks.

My Vegas trip was really different from what a lot of people are saying. I payed around $275 for the whole weekend which included my food, gas to get there from SLC, my share of the hotel room (it was an average Mirage room that we got a good deal on), and the drinks I bought at the pool. I guess it would've been more $ if I was into gambling and hookers. I went with a group of girls so club promoters gave us free VIP tables which also meant free drinks until midnight, and I guess that was a big money saver. Pamela Anderson and her group sat at the table next to us, apparently it was her birthday. Overall it was a great time, especially considering we didn't spend a fraction of what some people do. But I wouldn't be down to pay 5-10k for a weekend of partying there, it's not THAT great.

If you want a break in between partying, I think that place called Dig This looks fun. Basically it's a giant sandbox for adults to play with heavy machinery in. If you happen to be a construction worker I'm sure you'd think it's lame, but for everyone else it seems interesting. Gotta be sober for that one though

totally agree. That slice of america that stays on the strip that i saw, made me sick. the fucking worst people physically and personality wise possible. just terrible. I saw pretty much nothing redeeming while there. Drinks are heinously expensive, gambling sucks, and all anyone wanted to do was "get turnt and ball out"... problem was unless you are looking to drop 5 figures+ you arent balling out any harder than joe schmo next to you.

IDK, Id much rather do a whistler bachelor party, or a south lake tahoe bachelor party, or something along those lines. Somewhere where you arent paying through the fucking nose for name value, but no substantial value.

My vacations are generally to cool outdoors destinations, or world traveling to non tuorist meccas, so vegas would never be an interest anyways.

Agreed. I moved here on a total whim because I didn't feel like paying for California prices and no income tax in Nevada! (although somewhat high sales tax). But yes there are definitely places I'd visit before Vegas and have. I'm not here rooting for the home team by any means rather just saying it's not really that bad. But if you ever are sucked into the vegas vacation just know there is light at the end of the annoying neon lights.

I'm just posting this as a result post from what happened in vegas.

It was fucking bonkers. If you ever have the chance to go to Vegas and you have the money for it (100-200 Dollars per day) do it.

It was pandemonium, We went to Tao Beach Club where we had a day bed, We went to The Bank, and we went to hakkasan (spelling?). Just go if you ever get the chance.
