Vegas being superrr slow

so, i just got vegas pro 11.

i am running it on a newer desktop with 4gb RAM, and intel pentium (not the best, i know)

when i first got it, i threw a couple clips into an 'untitled' project (just to mess around), and screwed around with effects, it worked perfect, absolutely no lag.

but then i made a 'project' and put in some clips and started doing just a couple cuts, and it previews slow as shit, like i have tried everything, i have the preview set as low as possible, and im using 720p 30fps footy.

even scrolling through a clip, the audio goes normal, but the video is only half way done by the time audio finishes.

please help!! +K

ut why would it work fine until i create a project, as opposed to leaving it in an untitlied and unsaved project

im guessing it is something in the settings that is causing it if you were just splitting the clips, but some effects lag more than others and require rendering

nah, i put multiple clips into the untitled project and put multiple effects and cuts on each

but thanks, guys, ill go investigate some more

Ensure that your project settings match exactly, your footage. If it is a differnt size or frame rate then your going to get some lag.

But yeah your computer is pretty underpowered for editing HD footage with no real lag.

got it working now :)

but now im wondering why whenever i import a clip to vegas, and i go look in the folder it came from on the c drive, why is there a "white page" symbol file next to it?

no, i think my computer felt like being stupid, i restarted it and it now works fine. it may have been all the updates it needed to install
