So I've been a vegetarian for almost 3 years and have been a vegan for the past two summers. It's really hard and often unhealthy to be a vegan in the winter so I went back to being vegetarian.
One of the hard things about being a vegan is that although you can get virtually any dairy or meat product in a soy-based imitation, eating too much soy sometimes isn't good for you either. If you're worried about not getting enough protein, you can take soy or non-soy based protein supplements, but you don't need to eat protein at every meal... that's a huge myth.
Some high protein vegan foods that are awesome when cooked right are seitan, tempeh, tofu, soybeans and other beans. I'm pretty sure seitan is the highest in protein, but I could be wrong.
For calcium, kale and other leafy greens have more calcium than milk does. Obviously you can get soy milk or rice milk (non-soy), but tofu and seitan have calcium too. It's not hard to get.
Research how to make sure you're getting enough B12 and iodine, too. Those are often forgotten and are often lost in unhealthy vegan diets.
Haha that's the info off the top of my head for you.... If you have any questions pm me.
