Vegans, I need your help.

So I've been a vegetarian for almost 3 years and have been a vegan for the past two summers. It's really hard and often unhealthy to be a vegan in the winter so I went back to being vegetarian.
One of the hard things about being a vegan is that although you can get virtually any dairy or meat product in a soy-based imitation, eating too much soy sometimes isn't good for you either. If you're worried about not getting enough protein, you can take soy or non-soy based protein supplements, but you don't need to eat protein at every meal... that's a huge myth.
Some high protein vegan foods that are awesome when cooked right are seitan, tempeh, tofu, soybeans and other beans. I'm pretty sure seitan is the highest in protein, but I could be wrong.
For calcium, kale and other leafy greens have more calcium than milk does. Obviously you can get soy milk or rice milk (non-soy), but tofu and seitan have calcium too. It's not hard to get.
Research how to make sure you're getting enough B12 and iodine, too. Those are often forgotten and are often lost in unhealthy vegan diets.

Haha that's the info off the top of my head for you.... If you have any questions pm me.

check out the cook book "Veganomicon", I'm not vegan, but I use some recipes from it, it's really good.

The only reason for being vegetarian that i understand is if you truly dont like the taste of meat.

All enviromental and moral arguments for it fall short in my opinion.

Also vegetarians need to understand that its a dietary choice, end of story, your not changing anything, your not making a moral statement, your not a better person, your not healthier than meat eaters, your basically just a picky eater and thats it.

Oh and vegetarians fart more/have stinkier farts

Some people would like to avoid killing other living things when possible. It's as simple as that for a lot of people.

I'm not sure if you guys have looked into our country's production methods for mass produced meat...... but maybe you should.
There are very valid reasons for being a vegetarian.... wether or not you believe in them is your choice but it is ignorant to see them as wrong.
If we were required to kill our own food and eat it.... I'd be all about it. I always tell my boyfriend that if he kills a deer when he's hunting, I'll eat it. That's sustainable, though.
That brings me to another point.... sustainability.... look into it.
And to the fart comment.... vegetarian and vegan's cum tastes ten fold better than those who eat red meat.... sucks for your girlfriend/boyfriend.

The moral of my story is that I am perfectly okay with all of you meat-eaters putting down vegetarian/vegans that impose their ideas on you and scream at you on the corner of streets, etc etc. But leave the vegetarians who do it for LEGITIMATE personal reasons and don't care that you eat meat alone. There's no need to prove that you are right to someone who has already made the lifestyle choice.

Let's all hold hands and get along.

so now youre implying that you would beat a woman? and you think that makes yourself look good and me look bad? hah. okay. do i even have to say what i want to say right now? its too obvious.
peace love and happiness chadbrochill.

this is hilarious.... on the first page, there are people debating whether he means, VEGAN or VEGETARIAN. then you have other people saying he should go deer hunting or go out and buy a meat lovers pizza from pizza hut.... and now this page, you have to idiots arguing over something that has NOTHING to do with the original post.

BUT, back on topic. vegan is very hard to do, it might be easier if you become a vegetarian first, cause when you are a vegetarian you can still get certain types of eggs and cheese and i personally think it would make the transition easier.

Thats why 75% of my food is localy farmed/raised. Most of the vegetables I eat, especially summer/fall have been grown in my own garden. The eggs i eat come from my six chickens. Obtaining local meat is not a problem. get on mah level bitch.

will you two stop fucking bickering? and, i dont know, maybe actually try to help the dude that started this thread?

if you'll refer to my post a few inches up the page..... i told him everything i could think of at the moment about my knowledge on veganism.
lighten up! : )

sorry, i guess i meant to refer this more to the other guy that posted that weird ass picture of the chick with the bloody nose.
