Pros, Cons of each. no one new anything last sumer about the variant so now that a season has gone by we'll see. Goggle integration is with phenoms most of the time, prodigys as a backup.

If it helps, i like the way the holt feels but it makes my head look huge and doesn't fit well with phenoms (wtf?!?). so uhh yeah. input! thanks

i used the g1mx for 2 solid seasons and i really like it. it fit really well and was very well vented. the only cons i noticed was that i couldnt lift my goggles on to my helmet because the visor, but you can with the smith cause the brim smaller. the g10 also doesnt have a hard thick outer shell  and it dented and cracked fairly easy.

I love my g10 mx. Only complaint is the audio version with tuneups II, the earflaps like push in and are annoying sometimes. It has saved me numerous times.

I love my variant brim my only problem is i took a really bad fall and i think i brook the ear piece and part of the right vent because it wont stay closed and my ear pieces fall out. But i have the audio hook up and it is sick

so who has a good goggle to go with the variant brim? I want to wear my goggles on the OUTSIDE and not have it look ridiculous.

The variantis great. It has kept me warm, and I have had some pretty rough falls, and its stayed together and kept my head from hurting. If you want a goggle, I would say the crowbars are the best. Absolutely gapless, and the outriggers put the strap on the helmet right where it ends, so the strap isn't like stretching around the front sides of the helmet. But the crowbar does this with pretty much every helmet, so you can't really go wrong. And also, just from seeing sage with the phenoms and variant in lost and found, it looks like a PERFECT fit. But then again, different combos fit everyone differently.

i've got the variant brim with anons and it works well
i feel like every1 and their bitch has the G10s so i didn't really want one. plus the variant fit my head better. go find a shop tho and try them both on and just see which u like better, thats what i did.

I'd say the variant and smith in general is more for people with rounder heads, while giro is more oval shaped.

actually here's the real question.

I have a pair of phenoms and two pairs of prodigies. Do I use the helmet with a pair I have or do I get c-bars?

Oh and this hasn't happened to my helmet, but I've got a friend who pulled the ear flap out of the helmet, and now it always falls out. But he did tell me that the flaps were held in pretty strong before he did it, so I think if you get the helmet and leave them alone, you shouldn't have a problem. Plus, smith has a lifetime warranty. I dont't know about giro.

yeah i'm definitely going with the variant now. but i was gonna put my skull candy pads from my holt into the brim but would that not be a good idea?

I have the Variant Brim...and both the prodigy and the phenom...they work amazing with it. It is the best helmet-goggle combo ever...you can't go wrong with it. It is the lightest and warmest helmet, sometimes i forget that i have a helmet on. I think the phenoms work a little better cuz they're smaller...but both rock. The helmet is better than both of the Giros that I own. Buy it over the Giro.
