anybody know of some backcountry gems on the local mountains? I ski grouse and occasionally seymour, and want to find some sick lines, pillows, cliffs etc. (will hike)

I have also been working on building maps for other zones, i just put up a rough intro guide to brandywine, if you snowmobile.

I am also working on a map for the blackcomb backcountry but its not done yet, you can browse it on the map too though.

does anyone one know of the rumoured north van sled terrain? ive heard of the stuff at cypress, but it doenst like like it access any good ski terrain

Thanks a lot! Next pow day I'm gonna go check that stuff out. Do you take the cat track to access the cliff o the east side of peak? is it right above the cat track?

No.The easiest way to get there is to hop off Olympic chair, go left, and then drop in under the out of bounds rope and ski to the a little zig zag line a little left then cutting over to the right.
If its your first time through, recommend staying over to skier's right. You can get cliffed out over to skier's left (actually, a really sick cat track gap). If you stay to skier's right, you may miss the cliff and hit the cat track, but when you ride the cat track out, you will see the cliff and know where to go next time. Alternatively, you can hike up the cat track to find where the cliff is (maybe 8 - 10 min walk, it drops in right above the road), then go back and ski into it next lap.
Be warned, ski patrol is hateful and unpredictable. Who knows what shit they will spew. But if there are problems, be assertive that you are allowed to ski out of bounds in BC, and that if they don't want to you out there, its their own damn fault for not marking it as closed. Be polite, but do not kowtow to them. You are better off riding the Ridge as its easier to keep away from ski patrol. But that north side cliff is the best one on grouse, excluding thrasher creek.

Because of the weather it seems like it will be a while before i'll get to try these lines...in the meanwhile, does anyone know of so lines on seymour? I hear they're a lot more relaxed about ducking ropes and stuff.

Seymour is the closest you will get. Several open areas and fluid backcountry style lines, though none are too big. You don't have to duck a rope it's a gate and patrol doesn't mind if you know what you're doing. Just don't piss off the locals
