Anyone on here successfully living the van life?

I'm looking at getting a van and converting it into a camper van by the end of the year.

Rob Heule has a sick van:

Jacob Callahan's van Carla is pretty fuckin rad, graphics on the outside by Nicki Keefer's wife and reclaimed wood interior that JCal and his dad whipped up

The kind of girls that come back to the van, are questionable at best.

Well, depends where you van it. In the mountains?Well you're already fishing in a stagnant pond. However I have a friends who does the van life thing on the beach, and it's a diferent animal altogether.

Never said you couldn't pull the ladies back to the van.... just that the likely-hood of a VD or bat shit crazy are high. Not that there is anything wrong with that......

As a van owner I beg to differ...

I imagine being a pro skier doesn't hurt. it probably steps you up from the common snow wookie.

Hmmm, well now that I know this is possible

Think about going to parties. Even if you're not traveling in it, you just park on the street and you have your own room outside.

I had an OG NS, SNES, VCR, TV, sound system, etc in mine too. Obviously you'd use more modern stuff now, but it's fucking rad to have a portable bedroom you can drive around.

Currently living out a dodge ram van which works out pretty great. Even though it's not made for the mammoth april snow storms when it's like 15F..

Fancy inside with a DVD player...if you take out the seats you'll have plenty of space to live! good tires and a bit higher clearance is always cool to get to remote sleeping spots.

Selling ours by the end of our trip mid June btw ;)

That thing is freaking beautiful!

Can you post some pics of the interior?

My baby :') Not a ton of frills because I don't live in it full-time, but it gets the job done for long weekend demo trips. Question for Bishop and anyone else with experience: where/how did you pull power for a TV, videogames, etc without killing your batteries?

That is so dope. And I would guess a generator

I think for my gap year I'm gonna live in a van with some friends on the west coast. What are some good places to sleep?

I mean I pulled it from the battery... so when I was using it I just left the van running.

Not the most environmentally conscious thing to do, but unless you've got a generator its the only option.

As I'm posting this I'm laying down in my van and listening to wolves howling. Northern Minnesota in full effect.

Van life for life.

Yeah I've found a lot of unconventional uses for my Westie, mostly like being able to hang out sleep and cook when I'm too drunk to drive in any given situation. It's a total game changer.

Yeah nice. I would only use when the engine is running, so no problem with battery.

Would something like this make much difference in the 1/2 hour drive up to the mountain?

I spose it's better than nothing.

Cold boots suck.

If you were gonna use it just to keep boots warm it would do well. If your gonna try and dry boots out and warm up in 1/2 hour your boots are gonna be semi warm/wet.
