recent news, but the only confimation i have is a couple twitter updates.

can anyone find a story? whats the inpact this has on northstar? discuss

You've got to love shameless business hyperbole. "With substantial and diverse ski terrain"???? Aside from the terrain park, Northstar's terrain is anything but diverse. I spent a day there looking for a rock to jump off and I couldn't even find a pebble.

haha ok, believe what you want. I've been skiing northstar for 10 years and love to fact that people say that. all it takes is a little effort and you'll find everything from cliffs to pillow lines and untracked lines weeks after a storm.

personally i'm stoked on this deal. now i wont have to buy an epic pass and a northstar pass, couldnt get any better.

That's pretty awesome, hopefully the vail passes are good there next year. I'd be really stoked to visit some people in tahoe and use my regular pass.

Ok, I've got to admit I haven't explored the place much. But when you put it up against the other ski areas around Tahoe (Squaw, Alpine, Sugar Bowl, Kirkwood and even Heavenly and Homewood), it really looks like what it is: an eastern ski area out west (although many eastern ski areas have way more cliffs, including the tiny one I grew up at).

I would but my friends ride Sierra a lot and they already got their double whammy passes so it would be pointless for me to get an epic and not be able to ride Sierra with them.

haha its funny cause pow doesnt stay for a week, let alone weekS in tahoe. its too warm and sunny. you can find some untracked lines, but it will be crusty or slushy, not pow. And N* sucks ass, i have explored it and people go there for park, the mountain is 2nd class to the rest of the northshore resorts. Pillow lines bahahahaha

who cares.....its northstar. take a bus to the village for a long ass walk to the gondola. then fight lines and dumbfucks all day. Give me a break. Park is alright till 11, that is if you go on a weekend. I will be the first to admit that i am a hater.

It still is. Its only for this year that it will be included. I think people that got the double whammy might even be able to get a money refunded.

Okay, it would be sweet to be able to ride Heavenly this year so I'll do some research and talk to my friends.

And Vail acquires another mountain that sucks dick and has irritatingly large amounts of resort hassle

Wait for it, wait for it....

I. like. Northstar. *Gasp* I know, I know, that's crazy stuff right thur.

really? i found your argument invalid. pow does last for a week, if not weeks in tahoe... clearly you havent explored much beyond your obviously small knowledge of the area.
Northstar sucks ass huh? i'd be will to wager a fair amount of money against that argument. In fact, I invite you to ride with me for a day at northstar. maybe it will broaden your horizon.
first of all, I guarantee that you wont, and secondly, I guarantee you'll be waiting in line at squaw or alpine to get a shot at those "epic lines" which are tracked out by 9:15.

I didn't know that Vail was necessarily going to do it, but one of the larger companies was going to.

Ritz Carlton wouldn't have invested so much in building a property out there if a larger corporate entity wasn't going to get involved. This was probably a contingent for their contract, as it affords them much more security; the odds of the resort defaulting are way lower. Plus they already have a relationship with Vail resorts.

1st pow doesn't last long in tahoe cause it develops sun crust or it just plain melts/consolidates to slush because of the 300+days a year of sun, and relatively warm temps.

2nd i ski at alpine where the good areas don't get tracked at 9:15...thats squaw. the good stuff is hike to, and in the far bowls you get untracked for days after the storm ends.

but hey as long as you're happy skiing at N* thats all that matters...keep up the stoke!
