Im headed up to vail pass friday and saturday to help some friends shoot a backcountry beginners section for a video. I have been there once but havent spent alot of time there. Ive got a map of the place, can anyone point me to some good spots to ride or build a nice jump? or even better i am sure there are some jumps already built does anyone want to let me know where they are at? Any other advice? I mean we arent idiots but were not necessarily backcountry pros thus the backcountry beginners. K+++ for help thanks guys

do you guys have any avalanche education or avy gear?

if not i strongly suggest you stay in bounds, the snowpack is not very stable right now, and can be very dangerous

we are planning on staying in bounds, we have a sled, shovels, stuff like that but are for sure not planning on being anywhere near avalanche area

thats good advice on the steep enough to ride is steep enough to slide, thanks. Very helpful website to ill be on there whenever we go out, thanks!

if you are heading up vail pass you are going to be in an avy prone zone. make sure you all have at least beacon, shovels, and probes and at least practice with them so you have at least some idea of how to do use them if something does happen

i dont know if you will find too many already built jumps but there are plenty of great spots to build one if you know what your doing

If you didn't know about the CAIC website before this thread you probably shouldn't be going to Vail Pass. Especially with a snowmobile...
