VAIL LISTENED???

there's no way

pretty much anybody who skis in the PNW has at least caught wind of the 'Park To Brooks' movement on social media & even a petition on change.org. (https://www.change.org/p/stevens-pass-please-move-the-terrain-park-back-to-brooks )

If you haven't, here's the sparknotes version

When Vail took over Stevens Pass, they made the announcement that they would be ripping out one of the original lifts - the two seater 'brooks' lift for a new four person express lift. It was sad that a staple of the mountain would be gone, but it was time for that lift to go.

Then Vail announced that they would be moving the park off of brooks and onto the smaller, steeper, and more crowded 'hogsback'

Hogsback is the premiere (sorry) tourist-y and beginner run on the mtn. This lead to a terribly flowing park, smaller jumps, and longer wait times.

The community has given the stevens pass and stevens pass parks IG plenty of reason to move the park back to it's rightful location.

And now... two years later...

it's back.

Hopefully this doesn't come off corny, but I legit got choked up when I saw the 21/22 trail map with the park on brooks. I even have a custom 'Move the Park to Brooks' sticker on my helmet. I was so serious about this, I talked to the park staff, liftes, anyone who would listen.

I can't believe it's all come to fruition.

Sick, I really hope they keep listening and help bring Stevens back to its former glory. I lived in Port Angeles in 2016 and Stevens was like, $65? and always snowing, so dope. I will always remember it as the dopest little resort and was heartbroken when Vail bought it. I heard they've really been pissing off the DH bike crowd, too

Big cap that you actually think this random customer service employee who's probably 1000s of miles from PC has any idea what happening with the transitions terrain park.

Here is the real update: I wouldn't expect any news until it snows at least 6ft of snow. As its been stated in many threads, parks are the lowest priority for snowmaking. I doubt anyone knows if they will actually create a transition park because they dont even know if they'll have the snow to build it. Have some patience.

Ok Mr. eHeath. Do you have any idea what’s going on? Because I sure as hell know they aren’t bringing it back

They’ve already taken it off the chair lift maps along with website and 21/22 map. It’s over

You don't "know" that at all. As of now, I would say expect it to not be there, mostly because we have no snow. If we have a huge december, I'd give it a 50-50 chance. I'll ask some people I know, but I know they're gonna say "depends on snow".

RIP then, 3 kings is better anyway, i never understood the infatuation with transitions, I rarely go to the canyons side due to the awful lift layout and the amount of time wasted just trying to get up the mountain, I don't ski park much anymore anyway.

I understand it had fun rails and some cool jumps, but PC offers tons of other parks on the better side of the mountain.

There’s no doubt that overall 3 kings is better, but transitions was a very unique park with tons of things to do. Every year it has gotten worse after the merger with park city because they used to have some really really cool features. Vail is single-handedly killing park skiing and wouldn’t be surprised if 3 kings was the only park they have in the coming years

"Vail is single-handedly killing park skiing" okay calm down dude, Vail doesn't control the park scene.

That being said, transitions had some dope big jumps in the lower section a few years ago, but the top section was always slow and flat IMO, especially in the spring.

And honestly, 3 kings has been the "only park" at PC since they got rid of kings, transitions/pick ax were always considered the "small" parks and I've never filmed anyone in those parks, I skied both of them (pick ax aka neffland alot) but it's not like losing Kings or Jonseys...

I don't know your zoomer jokes, but congradulations or sorry.

Pretty wild that Stevens/Vail actually listened. That park was incredible in the glory days. You could hit like 13 to 15 jumps in a row that got progressively bigger. So fun. That being said, I still probably wont be making it out there to ski the glory that is the Brooks park. Parking/traffic/ticket are still too ridiculous for me to handle. I'll be getting my park fix at Snoqualmie and probably hop across the border to Seymour/Grouse/Cypress.

Here’s the real question tho. Would it be better to have a park there or a cut through run onto echo?

I dont really understand the question, does echo need a cut through?

My point is I’d rather have a park there than not. People can still cut through the park to get to echo. So why would we have a dedicated run just to cut through onto echo?

I also noticed pick ax isn't on the map, but the trail its on has no line/run on it at all so thats confusing.

I dont think it has anything to do with echo, it has to do with snowmaking, money and staff.

Same thing could be said for eaglet, why have a whole lift sitting there rotting when people lapping the park would use eaglet instead of king con. I’ve heard the argument that the lift only goes half way through the park, but I’m sure vail has enough money to drop two poles there and run the lift.

There is a huge difference between having enough money and being willing to spend the money.

But, they're replacing eagle (and eaglet) next summer with a high speed 6 pack (the current silverload lift) and they're gonna have a mid station at the top of the ridge (where eagle goes) and then its going to run up the ridge to the top of Con.

Eaglet sucks, king con laps are way more fun, they barely have enough staff to keep the other lifts open anyway.

If staff problems is why they aren’t opening, I’d gladly pick up a shift ?‍♂️ “Staff problems” is BS

Staffing shortages are a huge problem for resorts...
