Vail Closing a little Early this year?

I have a trip planned for Spring Break with my friends, but I've been reading up on a website (http://www.onthesnow.com/colorado/vail/skireport.html) and a lot of people have been writing that its not to good at all, and you should cancel. Even the lady at the hotel we were going to stay at said "unless you want to hike and mountain bike , cancel"448032.png

So heres the deal, Should I cancel or just go? My family purchased insurance, so we can cancel free of charge. My friends family on the other hand is screwed.

SparkNotes: Has anyone been to Vail in the past 3 days are so, or heard anything about the conditions. If so should I cancel my planned trip?

its been 60 degrees + for the 3 weeks. shits melting fast. when is your spring break? it will still be good farther up, but as far as the base area, it will be summer

In a week, and yeah thats what ive been reading. That being said wouldnt it be better to just save the money and go next year when its better?

even if its a bit spotty at the bottom, you got to remember just how enormous that place is, the snow will be good somewhere and skiing is skiing...

not true, the snow is miserable pretty much everywhere, however i would probably go, you could head over to Breck if you wanna hit some other stuff or Beaver too. If it is planned you never know what is gonna be happening next year so you might as well take advantage of the trip now.

I was there 3 days ago and it was pretty good. Its icy in the morning and slushy in the afternoon. overall pretty good

i spent 2 weeks last year in vail and it was the most snow i have ever seen in my life! it would be very hard to believe that they would be closing early this year! I was skiing waist deep pow 9 out of the 14 days!

True back in europe in early december I was skiing blower pow for a week just heard from some people who I ski with over there that it's 73F

I was there too. Shit was cray. All I did was spend my time in the back bowls and blue sky basin and rock it in the trees.

We have 48% of the mountain open.... Not anywhere to "find" snow unless you have some touring ambition and that would be for some awesome corn. I don't think that the mountain will close early, but patrol is closing stuff everyday as far as any of the back bowls are concerned. Last year around this time we had 490" or so and this year we are at 213". At least, I think you'll be able to slush around the frontside in t-shirts with the rest of us holding on to "winter"... Park landings are super soft too. That's pretty much what your looking at out here.

the only thing worth skiing right now is park, but dont worry because its soooo damn fun. come to breck, park lane is fucking PRIME

Mammoth is holding pretty solid. 3 - 5 feet of snow last week, a few inches this week, supposed to be some more snow this weekend.

Not like the PNW, but there are some pretty serious deals with flights and lodging right now. It's not 5000 acres, but we do have around 3000+ open, and it's staying cool during the day so it's been fast and fun.

Maybe your friends family can't cancel, but its usually no more than $75 to change the flight.

Ryan, I wasn't implying that your screwed and the trip is going to suck. I meant that if you wanted to cancel, your screwed.
