Vacation planning in Switzerland

Right now there's a good chance I'll be in Switzerland the last week of February. I'm trying to find a good resort/area to visit that I can get to by train with a decent amount of lodging options. A few places I'm looking at are:

Saas Fee, Switzerland

St Moritz, Switzerland

Zermatt, Switzerland

Somewhere else, Austria

I'm looking for intermediate/advanced terrain, don't really need park skiing on this visit. Wanting to do this relatively cheap, let me know if you have any good suggestions. I'm also considering Austria as well so tell me why Switzerland is better.

Also I've heard that some places charge extra for optional insurance when you buy your lift ticket? Otherwise ski patrol won't help you? Sounded weird to me any additional info would be great

Austria is generally a lot cheaper than Switzerland, but also a lot more crowded. If you are on a budget, you will get a lot more for your money in Austria... On the other hand, Switzerland has the taller, more bad ass mountains with far less tourists.

You probably listed the top 3 most expensive resorts in Switzerland though. Also look into Andermatt, Engelberg, Laax, Disentis, etc..

That thing about the ski pass and insurance is absolute bullshit.

I live in St Moritz, and ski aroung quite a bit. If you want to ski nice Mountains regardless how nice is the park, but you want to save some $$, go to Innsbruck, you have a lot of ski resorts around, ski passes are much cheaper than Swiss. Also Innsbruck is a nice city, with a lot of options at night.

Are you interested in skiing powder? if that's your idea, head 75 kms aprox from innsbruck to St Anton am Arlberg...
