since it seems to be the trendy thing to do these days im going to make a thread telling everyone that i will be attending UW la crosse next year. this thread that im going to create will ask others if they attend this institute of higher learning. it will also ask other about which ski areas are dope sauce in the area of la crosse. also i might ask how far spirit is away from la crosse, but im thinking i will prolly just map quest it.

Yeah man, you got Mt. LaCrosse right by you. I've been there 3 out of the last 4 years and their park isn't much. Their jumps are complete garbage... either no pop or similar to a quarter pipe with no landings. They have a sub par rails too. Sorry to be a negative nancy, but I'd rather tell you now than try to stoke you out and have you be disappointed when you see it.

truth. i've never actually ridden there myself, but i've got some friends from la crosse. it isn't a very big place and what they do have for park runs are generally crap.

Id imagine Welch isn't too far from La Crosse and thats a pretty good place to ride. In wisconsin theres not much close... check out places in MN

its all good dylan^

the two closest ive found (excluding mt la crosse due to shittyness) are welch and cascade. Both are about two hours away which is kinda far for me since i dont think im gunna have my car. So im wondering if anyone goes there, or if someone knows a place closer in mn.

I just toured Lacrosse last week and I was thinking about going there but I did not like the campus at all. But yeah on the tour they said Mt. Lacrosse was the closest. Lacrosse did have a very interesting outdoor skate park though, unlike anything I have ever seen. It was pretty fun.

I go to school at UW-L and I'm the President of the Ski and snowboard club. Mt. Lax has a terrible park so we usually hit up tyrol(2 hours), trollhaugen, welch, and we are heading up to Spirit this year. We have a winch this year so we will be doing a lot more urbans. We also take a trip out west every year. There are a good amount of decent skiers here and you'll have fun.

also that skate park is a block from my apartment and it is sick! Plus they have an indoor skatepark downtown at pro skate and snowboard.

yea im from the la crosse area, sparta actually. mt lax is the shitiest place ever. its ran by ski nazis and snowboarders who hate twin tippers, i brought my skis there last year to get mounted and they were all looking at my skis laughing because they had 2 tips? hahaha anyway, tyrol or cascade are pretty close, only about 2 hours as stated above, i believe tyrol still has tyrol tuesdays, ski all day for $10. which is def worth the drive. yea the concrete park is gnarly as hell, and my friend actually works at pro, which is even better then the outdoor park. granite peak isnt 3 hours away, its a little closer then cascade, if not a few minutes longer. dont believe mapquest or google maps, i drove to both quite a few times and its about even.

idk if you guys are still wondering but Mt. Lacrosse is definietly the closest, but the best place that's not too far away for parks would be Grantie peak #1, Hyland Hills #2, and tyrol basin #3 other then that afton alps is nice too. the farest one from la crosse is granite peak, its like 3 hours,.
