Utah Vs Mammoth

Me and my lady are looking to spent two or three weeks in the US over christmas/new year 2010-11, and we've been looking at Utah and Mammoth. I like the look of Utah, both for the creativity in their park building and for the BC, but you cant deny Mammoth's sunny appeal, and their park seem to be pretty much on point every year. Then theres the issue of going relatively early in the season, will that be a problem in any of the places? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

definitly mammoth. an amazing mountain for riding an everything around there at that time is pretty legit and the entire mtn usually opens in atleast mid november

Utah for sure ! Never been to Mammoth tough, both look sick. But Utah you got like 10 resort less then 1 hours from Salt lake. You have to go to Solitude if you go in Utah no one ski there and the Honeycomb Cayon is crazy

Personally I would say Utah. I've been to Snowbird and it was easily the best week of my life. But I hear Alta is amazing too so you really can't go wrong. Plus you could try more than one place since they're all really close to Salt Lake City. Either way it will be amazing.

i would say utah i have been to mammoth many times it is fun there no doubt about it, but utah to me would be a better vaction more to do more bang for your buck more resort choices especially for early in the season for spring i would choose mammoth though, good luck and come to brighton resort it kicks ass ha

first off dont come to utah to ski park. mammoth usually gets more snow than utah earlier in the season as well but you never know til it happens, utah has alot of variety and its not hard to find some good snow days after a storm.

mammoth is gonna be more of a mountain get away then coming out to Salt Lake for sure. Park City is more resort like for sure but nothing like Mammoth Lakes in terms of scenery, and mountain town life.

seeing how you can compare utah as a state with all the mountains so close together, to mammoth as just a single mountain... id say utah.

If price is an issue, go Utah.

I live in SoCal, and it is cheaper for me to go to Utah for a week than Mammoth. Mammoth park is def. insane though and the mountain rocks. You'll be happy at both.

given that ive been at Mammoth since I was walking and the only place in Utah Ive been was some tiny mountain called Brians Head when I was a kid I would def say Mammoth. Its just got that mountainy feel with the lakes nearby and hot springs and although it is getting touristy it still holds some of that best kept secret feel

Yeah ha ha Brian Head doesn't give you the real Utah feeling cuz it's not in the Wasatch and it's like 300 miles away from SLC.

obviously, which is why i prefaced what i said with the fact that i havent been to any good places in utah.

that withstanding, i love the hell outta mammoth. that is all

id say mammoth. its pretty hard to beat that place. also, around the holidays the smog problem here gets incredibly bad. utah is rad, but its pretty damn hard to beat mammoth

Honestly, you're going to be stoked wherever you go. As far as park goes, it really all depends on snow and most places are still in the process of building their park. Choose what really looks like more fun to you.

mammoth will definitely have pc beat in terms of park around that time. plus there will be insane amounts of snow. if mammoth gets a storm during the time your there (which it for sure will) you will be thankfull you made the decision by your 2nd run
