Using the word "gay"

how do you guys feel about using this word to describe something. ill admit when i was in middle school i used it. but now in college when i here 20 somethings say it. i feel that it just makes them look ignorant.

you can come up with much better words

discuss!!!
 
I use it all the time...probably a bad thing, but whatever...my gay friends use it too so it has lost its negative aspect toward gay people IMO.

but seriously im not a fan of the word. i do know a gay guy that has a shirt that says "homophobia is gay" thats some funny shit
 
personally i just think it makes you sound like you're 12 especially people who use it in excess, or as a comeback... ex: spanish class, kid makes a joke and nobody laughs, so he makes the joke again, again nobody laughs me:"cool joke keith" him:"you're gay"

i dunno just makes you sound stupid and imature in my opinion
 
It was just a joke because the thread was about saying "gay". You're and idiot, and yes i am fat.
 
i find words like weak, lame, shitty, and queer work better than gay. too many ppl use gay it starts go get really old. kinda like your mom jokes
 
It's not any different and you shouldn't say that either IMO.

I always ask people what's happy about whatever they said is/was gay. Get's them either pissed off or confused but it gets the point across since it usually leads to a discussion on how gay actually means happy not being a homosexual and happy is not in any way a negative connotation. It also tends to lead to how i'm from SF and it's a taboo to call things gay after you get out of middle school, which i agree with. I feel like gay is the new black nowadays.
 
if youre with your friends (gay or straight) just say it providing the gay ones are cool with it, and trust me, unless they have sand in their vagina, they will be.

the only person ive ever met who wasnt ok with it is this bitchy bulldyke at uni. telling her to get over herself and to stop being such a bitch was very satisfying.
 
Doesn't stop being funny, only because it's Heath. I use it every once in awhile for comedic effect, but kids who overuse it are, well, pretty fucking gay.
 
By all means use it If you want to come off as a sheltered, bigoted, classless, ignorant douche with a 6th grade education. Why don't you also call stuff "Jewish" while your at it.

thats an adjective you can use in proper context. unless you see two dudes makin out, saying "thats gay" doesnt make sense. but with 'jewish' , if someones being cheap, you can use 'joo' in context, and it makes perfect sense
 
I use the words "gay" and "jewish". Albeit not frequently, as I mentioned earlier I think kids who overuse it are tools, but if you can stop taking everything so seriously for a second and realize that not everything has to be politically correct to be funny, then maybe you'll understand the humor behind it. Hard to wrap your head around, I know. But I guarantee you I am as educated and "classy" as you are, and I am far from being a bigoted assfuck, so please - stop being so pretentious and stop pretending that everything that offends a group of people is immediately not funny. You sound like a 50 year old evangelical bitch.
 
i use it and i am not a homosexual person at all. The only bad part is when i call things gay around my lesbian sister
 
i use it all the time, and im not homophobic. its just a good word to replace stupid. its not saying homos are stupid, its just another meaning just like the thousands of english words that have more than one meaning.
 
shouldn't be offensive. seeing people say it about hot sisters all the time, except this one could be even better. anyways not meant to be offensive, but still...let's see her!!

When people say something like "I want a fucking cheeseburger" i come back with "are you sure you don't want a regular cheeseburger" or something. basically anytime uses fucking as an adjective, not in the literal sense i say that. I think it irritates people enough that they stop talking like they don't have a fucking education.
 
I don't really think that gay people care that much. If they did I think they would talk about it more. Some people do get offended though so I avoid using gay to describe something negative around them or infront of new people who I suspect are gay.
 
i used to use it alot.

once someone calld me out on it i was like "why am i even calling things gay" and now i do alot less. i guess i only said stuff was gay because everyone did and you just dont think about it
 
i know a gay kid who always calls things gay, so i don't really care, and it does describe things very well sometimes, like that man over there in the purple pants and pink wig seducing the child over there is gay
 
ehh i use it sometimes. our school just had a huge civil rights thingyy cuz people in my school were drawting shwasticas? spelling? anyways so we're supposed to be more careful about what we say.. i guess it does sound pretty ignorant to say it
 
if that's what you think about people using the word "gay", then what are you doing on NS? seriously.

personally, i say gay all the time. i think its funny. i have plenty of gay friends and i don't use it around them.

the hottest ones are the ones who are bi, most chicks in pornos aren't actually lesbians
