So apparently we, the USC ski team is putting on a rail jam on campus the 14th. Mammoth is bringing down the park crew and some railz for anyone and everyone to schralp. Not really sure on a lot of the details, but i think they are bringing in some amount of tons of shaved ice. we'll have some small comp style deals and some prize givaways i'm sure. Anyway, there aren't many good skiers or boarders around here so if you know anyone, invite them and come have some fun.

I'll post more info as soon as I get it.

yeah you definitely should.

Apparently Mammoth is throwing some event down in san diego the weekend before so they are bringiing an entire setup including scaffolding...and also bringing all the sponsor tents etc. so it should be a good time. we'll get facebook events going out later today

Anyone want to post the details?

Very interested in getting on snow in SoCal, would love to hit some rails. Let me know:)

here's the details we have so far-

November 14th, USC Ski & Snowboard Team and Mammoth Mountain are bringing snow to the USC Campus.

The

idea behind the event is to give the entire USC community an

opportunity to see first hand what the Ski & Snowboard Team does on

a weekly basis without traveling the 300 miles to Mammoth.

The

event is open to anyone, and will run all day long in McCarthy Quad.

There will be a collection of Ski & Snowboard related companies

showing off their newest gear and giving out products, sledding open to

anyone who wants to go for a spin, and the event will finish off with

an open Rail Jam and a Final competition.

Schedule of Events:

(Times are approximate and subject to change)

Event start: 11am

Sledding 12pm-1pm

Open rail jam 1:00-3:00

Competition Jam 3:30-4:15

all of this can be found on our website

www.uscsnowsports.org

as far as rails and setup goes, we're kind of in the dark at this point since mammoth is really doing all of it. We are told it will probably be something small - flat box and flat rail i'm guessing. USC has absolutely no hills or anything so they are bringing scaffolding for a drop in ramp and that's about it. i don't want to be negative about it but i don't see it being ALL that exciting... if we can we'll set it up on this little "knoll" we have out in the quad which would allow for maybe a flat down setup or a down rail or something, but chances are slim.

Hey I made a new event on facebook for people participating in the rail jam.. we're trying to get an idea of how many people will be actually skiing/boarding.

Please join this event if you're going to participate in the jammm...

We've got all the quicksilver companies coming and their offsprings (probably rossi etc), as well as Active, Sessions, and some others. A lot of other sponsors have been contacted for product donations so there's going to be plenty to go around.

There may be an after party somewhere in Hollywood.. maybe Roxy Theater, or similar venue.

Drop in ramp will be ~13 foot scaffolding setup. There will be a box for sure, don't know what else yet.

Rail jam is starting at 1pm and going until 3 with the comp from 330-430 roughly. We'll see how many people there are and how it ends up turning out.

So far on the group we have 1,000 confirmed guests, hopefully we won't have too many people competing or hitting the features..

Oh and we also have shirts for 10 bucks designed by yours truly which includes the radical unbound logo and a mammoth logo on the butt. We'll try to save some to give out at the event, but we'll see.

looks like we're a little short on ski company backing. lame.

Well cya there tomorrow, excited to get back on snow... dreading a possible line of like 150 people or some shit... hopefully it will be fun as hell.

150 people?? Fuck, i hope it is set up mad tech so the so cal n00boarders just watch, rather than make the hole in landing larger.

tech would be sweet.... well heading into LA. Riding some old delaming high society's no surprise there haha.

my girlfriend took some pictures i will see how they turn out. it was a lot of fun and thanks a lot to the usc ski and snowboard team for putting it on. i just wish they guy from mammoth would have been cooler about letting people ride more. sam said i could go up again but that got vetoed when i started to walk up the ramp

yeah, mammoth said they want to do it next year better and we'll be sure to change from experience. next year will probably college students only - not all those rando sponsor tent boarders that jumped in and pros hitting it nonstop? no fun. and not cool for them to be in finals.

also we needed a skier only division and not some snowboard pro judging.

but yeah it was kinda lame how they were making us go so slow and never hit it. we're also going to spread out the snow more and make it huge because even after 90 degree weather for 2 days the snow is allll still there like 8" deep..

if anyone wants to urban in LA, grab a truck and drive here because there's still like 10 tons of snow sitting on the grass. hah
