Anyone know how they graded the health thing?

From my understanding it would be because of the amount of publications done by US doctors in medical journals. But that's just my completely ignorant comment

I would be very surprised if US was first for healthcare. You could fly to Europe, live there for a year, get your hip replaced, and fly back for less than it costs in the U.S. Obviously that's not the only factor but still..

I think they don't really factor in costs. Like the US has the best healthcare if you can afford it. It's just god damn expensive. However when you factor in costs and other shit the US does poorly.

I'd care about this but I'm too busy exercising my freedom.

Actually.... with medicare/medicaid alone, the US spends more than any other country inthe world (outside of one country like Japan or something) on healthcare. Reason being 30% of 319 million is still about 96 million people

I'm not surprised that the US is number 1 in "health freedom", The healthcare is good if you can afford it, and you are also free to choose what doctor, insurer, method of treatment, hospital etc. However, as a proper "system" massive freedom in healthcare isn't that great.

When was the last time an educational discovery came from Australia?

WiFi, Penicillin, Dark Matter and an ever-expanding universe, Cochlear Ear (aka the bionic ear), Insect Repellent, The only flu drug that actually works (relenza), polymer banknotes, the Black Box, the Electronic pacemaker, Permaculture, Gardasil and Cervarix cancer vaccines, and Spray-on Skin. I can go on if you'd like.

What the fuck is an educational discovery?

Education: "the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university."

Discovery: "the action or process of discovering or being discovered."

If you need me to explain it out more so you can understand it let me know.

That didn't answer my question. What is an educational discovery?

Insect repellent obviously, they have vaccines for cancer? (I just looked it up it's the HPV vaccine which isn't really a cancer vaccination. Although HPV can cause cervical cancer.) Wifi OK I'll give ya that one.

Actually I don't feel like having this back and forth its a discovery made in math science history, or any other subject you can learn at school, this discovery usually is then followed by advancing civilization. Hope that helps

You've completely made that term up. Not once have I ever heard anyone use it. Not even google comes up with anything for the term.

It's not a term its two words with definitions.. Are you trying to say a discovery that has to do with education can exist? You must be a sad miserable lonely person to be arguing semantics, the person who quoted me understood it sorry it too much for you to comprehend. "Education: Australia was ranked number 1" if they said University or college I would have said academic or academia, but after reading that education was in my head if it really bothers you that much.

not that I care about this discussion, but just going to point out that you're wrong about a lot of those

Arbitrarily combined to make up a non existent term, you absolute fuckstick.

Nope they were pretty reasonably put together and any person can figure out what I'm trying to say. Its not like I made up two words and people are at a loss

How is the US #1 in health? Don't you guys have one of the most morbidly obese populations?

Here is what they look for regarding the Health sub-index:

"The Health sub-index evaluates countries on the basis of indicators that respect strong health infrastructure, such as rates of immunization and public expenditure. Countries are also assessed on average life expectancy, rates of infant mortality, and under nourishment. The sub-index further includes measures of individual satisfaction with health, and the effects on health from environmental factors such as water, air quality, and environmental beauty."

Their entire methodology can be examined here (the 8 sub-indexes are discussed on pages 12-27):

CANADA's the most free country in the world..... Fuck yeah!!!!!!!!

Even after Harper

You'd have to try extremely hard to make a country that's 90% arctic wilderness less free.

If you factor out the five most violent cities in the US. The ranking for safety and security sky rockets. I believe its New York, Washington D.C. and Chicago. This rating correlates to the number of homicides as well.

I don't care FUCK YEAH MURICA today in teh parking lot there was a red neck truck in the spot closest to the main high school door we have to enter with a like 6 x 8-foot confederate flag on it
