There are only max 3 spots per event per country in Sochi yeah? A few big names are going to miss out

That's what I was wondering, although I imagine a lot is riding on this seasons comp. results, and changes may occur

Congrats to Willie Borm for Rookie Team!!

whatttt.. me and wallisch share the same birthday! he's 10 years older then me thoughhope i'm as good as he is now in 10 years lmaooo/claim

Agreed Duncan is on some crazy progression and style. Haven't enjoyed watching anyone ski pipe that much since Chricton, Belan and Candide.

As Karl mentioned I'm very surprised Goepper is not on that list at all. Kind of odd if you ask me, especially considering his results last year.

this is just the current season the article says i think it can change for the Olympics next season

willie borm is three years younger than me??? i thought he was 18. regardless he is going places

this will more than likely change with results from this season. Tanner didn't make the cut because he hasn't competed in a long time and therefore has no results to go on. Goepper needs to have some super solid results to make it happen for him as well.

i think you also need to take into account that there is a possibility that athletes not named either couldn't or weren't willing to commit to a training schedule with the US Freeskiing team. there's a ton of fitness testing and training that goes along with being part of a national organization's team and not to mention media relations as well. all of this on top of competition schedules and doing promos for sponsors.

Guys, this is not the Olympic team, it is just the US freeskiing team.

The Olympic team is not decided by who is on the US freeski team.

I think the dumont has passed his peak by a lot. I think he's done with doing good in pipe but who knows being on the US team. Might push him a little harder

But the US Freeski team is who will be going to the Olympics. The members could change by the time of the 2014 Olympics depending on this seasons results. That's my understanding of it.

The official selection process isn't out yet but all skiers will be on the US Ski team. It might not be the same team as today but the skiers will all be on the team as of the olympics.

You are half right in theory but in real life, we'll never see an Olympian who is not actively on the US ski team. I'm willing to bet if you end up top two in rankings, you'll get an automatic bid to the us ski team. There is absolutely no good reason to deny a bid to the US ski team. Bode left the US team but not during the olympics and then he came back.

In racing, the first two spots are rankings and the second 2 are coach picks. I expect pretty much the same thing to happen in freeskiing.

I don't really understand how Goepper isn't there either, he was 2nd in AFP slopestyle (i think) and pretty much pushed T-Wall at every comp last year. I don't really care for his skiing but he's probably the guy I'd put my money on to take slope gold if I was asked now, can't see how he didn't even make the 6 unless he turned it down or something.

What do you mean?

Take 2010 snowboard pipe. USA had 4 of the 40 total entrants: White, Bretz, Lago, and Vito. 4 was the max per team and the US has a really strong team.

Until I see rules, I'm expecting mirrored rules from snowboard pipe.
