Urban skiing with ice shavings from an ice rink in DC

so i have really badly wanted to slide this one rail at my old school.https://www.google.com/maps/@38.966214,-77.068594,3a,78.7y,51.58h,75.74t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sTIcmOGoxC8LHkXE4hvDwzg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1?hl=en it is the right rail on the right stairs directly in front of the school. this will be my first time urban skiing so tips and advice are extremely appreciated. what do you guys think should i do it or no? is it worth it or should wait until winter? btw I'm pretty new here and at freesking just so you know and if any of you live near here you are more than welcome to come and shred. just pm me for when I'm going to do it because I'm not sure of the date yet.
 
I dont think you should do it now. The heat il of our days will melt it within an hour. And our money hungry cops will ticket you within a second. However in the winter if you come at night it's completely empty. Also if your going to post such a local topic you should post it in the regionals. Seriously

Like somebody thats been on here for a month knows about regionals, cut him some slack.

sorry i know this is off topic but would you guys happen to know any cheap alternatives for getting speed for urban(i dont have the money for a 200 dollar bungee). thanks a lot!
 
Wait til winter, looks like a sweet rail. I just got back from the fairfax county area, theres some sick urban down there, sucks they dont get a ton of snow.

Do you have a crew you roll with? Try splitting it with them to cut the price down on everybodys end.
 
nah i dont have a crew really xD i just ski by myself really. so everything has to come out of my pocket, but if there was a crew in dc i would definitely try to join. thank for the advice Chubz it really helps.

i am out of town but when it snows this winter i will be sooo down
 
Regarding speed you may be able to use the ledge behind for a drop in if you build a huge pile of snow out of it. Cant really tell how wide that walk path this. if its not too wide that'd be my approach.
