wind updrafts and such, the chute is shaped like an airplane wing as well, like an airfoil, the shape propels it forward due to higher pressure on top of the kite due to molecules having to move faster over a larger distance, pulling it upward and garvity pulls it downward, so it results in a more horizontal pattern
