'Upgrading' contributor status?

It's time I started 'upgrading' my contributor status, but it looks like my initial investment will be lost, right? As in: I've already paid 5 bucks (whoopdidoo) for my pretty green thingy, if I want to give some more back to NS, I have to buy a whole new status?
 
They stack. I started with a $5, then went up to a $25 one by adding $20, then added another $25 to get my baller sign. Assuming things haven't changed (I doubt they did), just add combinations of signs to your cart (so buying another $5 will give you a level 2 sign, buying a $10 sign will give you a level 3, buying 2 level 2s will give you a level 4, and so on).
 
This thread kinda gave me an idea. Maybe it's been discussed.

Who thinks it's time for there to be a level of donations above the gold bling? A $100 donation. I love being at the top of the list, but I'm always down for NS making more money. I feel that people like me don't donate any more than $50 because that's where the symbols stop. But a new symbol could be good for NS to make some dough.
 
It would be cool if there were more perks besides the donators forum. Non donators would probably complain that ns is turning into a subscription service though.
 
Removal of adds for donators (not necessarily at the first or second level).

Or at least have skiing adds; because I don't always have those and don't like that.
 
That would take more than just a one time fee (at least for the removal of all ads, changing them I don't know).

I'm all for a higher tier of donator, but I do feel a subscription portion of the site is the next step. Removal of ads, premium content unique to subs, special promotions/contests/products for sale, possibly pre-releases on content.
 
it would be cool to have a little counter somewhere that calculates how much money you've indirectly contributed to NS through ad impressions when you're logged in.
 
Well I feel bad because I bought a $5 one and got this grey one ($10). Not that it really cost them anything, though.
