Up votes and downvotes not obvious enough in the new design

only reason i post is to see that sweet green bar with upvotes.

but really i wish with the new layout that upvote and downvotes were still by the name of the poster in the forums, as well as them being colorized in the video section. besides that everything looks good

The bottom line with those is that they didn't work in the mobile app.

We invested all of our time focusing on making Newschoolers as excellent as possible in mobile app form, and then the desktop version of the site is using the same layout but we added a few things back in.

Part of this transition though is to really focus in on the app version of Newschoolers, and keep the desktop site as a functioning legacy for older users who still browse at work. As such, certain features which you liked on desktop will simply no longer be maintained.

Its a very hard decision to do this, but there's an entire generation of younger skiers who almost never use their computer to visit websites.

Well I guess I'm one of the few.

I still haven't figured out how the karma works.

This provides a lot of good context. I wasn't a fan of the new site layout (strictly aesthetically speaking, function was still fine), but thinking of it as a mobile site that is desktop second makes total sense.

Just wait until they all get carpel tunnel and myopia and all move back to computers. Then you can make NS great again.

Yeah I mean I love hammering on a keyboard in forums... phone seems silly for that. Media stuff though I actually really like on the phone though.

Its just a new world now, and I'm sure something else will rapidly be around the corner. :)

Wow reading this shows me how much NS has chance since I first joined in 2010. That period of time was so nice on here. Hopefully this app approach will give the younger gen what NS gave me back in the day.

I hate using NS on my phone, I get out my computer for NS. The app makes it a lot better and I love that you can get notifications on your phone from the app when someone messages or quotes you, but I don't like the new desktop site's look but it functions fine.

The whole site is just so drab, where'd all the color go?! It's boring with everything being black and white. Upvotes and downvotes don't stand out enough on forum posts and especially videos. I thought you guys took away upvotes again for weeks until I finally noticed them... At least make them green/red again, or put them on the left side under the icon. I contribute less to the site because of these reasons and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
