Unthreadworthy Thread

And I'll start, do people think these skins are okay, there's about 8mm either side..

I'm only using these for the first month until there's some snow around so I don't trash my light skis and they were cheap and second hand

The size seems okay. You don't need to have skins that fits your skies perfect. So as long as the quality of the skins look okay, your fine. You could try to wax them if they are old.

I don't want to spend money on gear this fall but my dynafit radicals have an issue where the heal piece likes to swivel while in skin mode, spinning around to ski mode and it's really annoying. I'm thinking a creative use of elastic bands will do. Should work, eh? I mean, I've kept a pair of dukes alive a season longer than they should have with duct tape so fuck it.

Cheers guys, that's what I hoped, they're only short term anyway.

I know you said no money but this will surely only be a few dollars...?

did you get the pins in the heel piece replaced that make them not spin? any ski store that sells that binding will have them. I went through so many of those heel pieces before they 'fixed' the problem with the shaved down pin. Then i started breaking the pins.

oh ya fuck i forgot about that piece dynafit released! again, its free from any ski store that sells those bindings it was a warranty thing they put out. I got that piece and it works great, screws right on. solves your problem.

OP:

Sry for showing up late to this thread, but to answer your question-

those skins should be fine. Given you're only planning on using them for about a month or so.

The big issue is if the edges are covered by the skins, as sliding out on an uphill traverse/ side-step doesn't sound to fun! But that is obviously not the case with your short term set-up. Have fun dude!!!

Im in need of skins for a pair of Line Opus 192cm.

144-118-142 if I remember right. Will an 125mm skin be wide enough?

They do got a pretty amount of rocker.

Was thinking about the BLACK DIAMOND Glidelite Mohair Mix Custom 125mm Climbing Skins Black, in 192cm if that matters.

Thanks in advance.

mmmm thats quite a bit of ski sticking out. could work. or G3 makes a 140mm 189-199 skin. thats what ive got for my opuses. and MEC has them on sale right now.

Looking for a new light weight stove. Suggestions?

I have a Older MSR pocket rocket for backpacking but that takes a while to get food going and water boiling in summer time at sea level.

Lightweight stove that works well in cold and altitude?
