Thinking about attending there. Already have my application in. the U has been on my potential list of colleges for a while.

What do the local Utes think about it? I've done research on the demographics and all, but whats it like going to school there? Just wanna get an idea for what it's like being a student there. I'd be going into Materials Science engineering there too if that matters. Whether you're a student there or not, I value your opinions.

Thanks guys

Don't know much about that particular major but the U of U does have a top notch engineering program so I think it would be a good option

Simply put Utah is the tits.

I'm going into my senior year. I moved to Salt Lake knowing no one in the entire state. Right away living in the dorms I was able to make friends with all kinds of people. It is a dream come true for skiing. Getting rides to different mountains was never much of a trouble and I had a ton of friends at each mountain.

As far as the actual school goes it is pretty nice. It has never been hard for me to get whatever class I need. Class times aren't too bad. The campus is easy as hell to walk around on, it's never more than a 15 minute walk from one class to the next. The shuttle bus on campus is nice if you don't feel like walking and it stops everywhere you need to go. The library and student union are top notch I stop in and use the computers whenever. The Library specifically has computers for any audio/video editing you want to do.

I dunno what else you wana know but I'm the happiest I could be at Utah.

This sounds rad^ Im in the same position man! Trying to chose schools and what not! Im living in MN and Utah is a standing option. Where would you be coming from?

I am a junior in MSE at the U right now, and I love it. I switched over from ME and loved the decision. It is a small department, so everyone really gets along well and helps each other out. The major allows you to go in a million different directions which is great. It focuses more on the chemistry/atomic level physics type stuff rather than the math and computer programing like a lot of other engineering majors do. You can work on everything from nano-level silicon chips in computers to composite materials for sports. The U has a great department for it as well. Lots of materials science technology has been/is being developed here. I would certainly recommend it.
