what do you guys think about it? i saw there was an old thread about it, i was wanted some updated info. like hows the skiing, keep in mind i live in vermont, hows the party scene and hows missoula and the school and kids that go there? its not my #1 school, but it was accepted

There isnt really much around Missoula for good skiing...come to Bozeman and go to MSU if you want to ski...Bridger Bowl is like 15 minutes away and Big Sky is like 45....oh and Fuck the Griz!!

Yeah definitely check out MSU in Bozeman if you want some pretty good skiing. There's quite a few kids from vermont that go here actually, and there are three ski areas within an hour from here.

Uhh dont go to UM if you want to ski, shit sucks. If you go to montana go to MSU.

It depends on your major, and bozeman itself seems pretty cool. It's a fun place, lots of outdoor stuff to do

its sick, bozo deffentally is the bigger skiing school, just about everyone skis or boards. missoula is big on pot, its the hippy town of the state, ive heard bozo has better partys also. plus you can take a skiing class in bozo

There's been a couple threads in regionals you might want to check out that compare MSU to UM. Also, try contacting people in the department you're looking at at each university, they should be able to give you a good perspective of what it's like.

That being said, Bozeman is definitely better for anything outdoors, but Missoula's pretty cool if you're just looking for a social scene and are willing to comprimise skiing.

I know you sent me a PM but I wanted to respond here.

As far as skiing, MSU beats UM. But, we make do out here. Snowbowl has some fun runs to get you ready for the backcountry out in Lolo. We're right in the middle of Big Sky and Big Mountain in Whitefish so we can head to whatever mountain we want. Plus, we're near Discovery, Lookout, Silver, and Lost Trail.

As far as nightlife, Missoula wins, hands down. Everything from our house parties to our bar scene dominates.

Our game days are a lot more hyped up and have much more attendance than MSU because, well, we win. (No offense cats, but you know its true). When there is no skiing, nothing beats Kegs and Eggs, tailgating and a Griz game.

As far as education, if you want to specifically become an engineer, architect or palentologist, MSU is your school. But for everything else, UM gets the prize. Our Journalism school is top 3, our creative writing department has an exceptionally distinguished faculty, and our B school has been rated in the top for a school of our size and price. Our anthropology department has really great faculty as well. Our school of forestry is fucking legit (we have our own forest for a reason) AND throws one of the best parties in Missoula every year.

We do have a ski team but it is a club team. We have a freeride club but not a team. However, you can take skiing for credit. They throw you on a bus, give you a coach/guide depending on your level and set you loose on Snowbowl. Right now, I'm in a class called Trampoline and Ariel Acrobatics to help out with my park skiing. Seriously, I am earning real credit for skiing and jumping around on a trampoline. You really can't beat that. We also offer classes like table tennis, fly fishing, kayaking, rock climbing, mountainbiking, et cetera. A-mazing.

Let me know what other questions you have. I'm actually a UM Advocate aka the ones who give the tours and know everything about their campus, so seriously if you need any info let me know!

that awsome, thanks! i was wondering if by any chance you could email me pics of the campus and the town, im having trouble finding any good ones online. btw im going for business, so maybe the business building? also the dorms....how are they by the way? pics? you dont have to do this if you dont want to, i wont be mad., hows the study abroad program?

Dude strait up honest to god go to bozeman. The skiing is way way better. Ive skied every mountain in montana and trust me when i say go to MSU. We have a good bussiness department and school in general. Ive been to Missoula parties and they are not as fun as the ones in bozeman. Missoula is nothing but a bunch of pot-smoking hippies that are more concerned about there dreadlocks then actually skiing. MSU offers skiing classes no matter if your a beginer or a pro. Sometimes the profesors even let you out early so you can go ski.TRUST ME GO TO MSU!

snowisfun summed it up about right. Misoulla has really good house parties and bar scene is hopping. I would find it really hard for me personally to go to school there if I wanted to get good grades. There is just too much shit going on any night and a lot of herb smoking. Good people diversity, there is kids from all over US that go to school there so you got a little bit of everything and plenty of hippies and granolas to go around of course. Don't know too much about school besides from what I heard from my friends but depending on your degree you will get a good education if you willing to put in the effort. Good luck with your choice.

missoula is the bigger "business" school but kids from bozeman score higher on average on the business exams like the cpa and such. Bozeman is the better place for an international business degree and skiing. If you wanna smoke a bowl, go to missoula. but bozo's weed is legit and their school is better for business so whatever. Be a fag and go to UM. Be a playa and go to msu

Don't get stuck at Snowbowl, you will think the entire West is like that, and that would be a crying shame.

Check out MSU.

what are the good ski resorts if i went to UM? for freeskiing

i think its down to, snowbowl, discovery, lost trail, great divide, or lookout, are the closest. how long would it take to get to each of these placese?

except snowbowl those are all going to be quite the drive. great divide builds a nice park

in bozeman you have bridger 15 minutes from downtown and it beats all those mountains and if you want to ski park you have big sky and moonlight like 45 miles away
