As Phrosty says, Eldora has sucked in the past. They have new management this year and a new park crew so it may be better. I ski there a lot during the week when I have class at 2 in the afternoon or something. Thier pipe is generally decent, and it's nice to just go make some turns and not have to drive an hour and a half. It is about 30 min from Boulder, and there's a bus that runs if you don't have a car.

Over time, most people experience life involving love, sufffering, compassion and an uspeakable drive for something new... for me there's skiing, nothing more nothing less and it encompasses everything, every day I'm out there.

I looked at Colorado State at school seemed good til the lady said it was 3 1/2 hours away from the nearest good skiing. I just walked out after that.

go to University of Northern Colorado, that's were all the bitches are at. crazy ratio like 3:1 or something.

CU is a great school, but the mountains are all about an hour and a half away, except for Eldora. I take fall semseters here, and then ski for the spring semseter, it is the only way i can stay in school, and ski as much as i want.

Joel McKormick May he rest in peace.

Im at CU-Denver and it is awesome if all you want to do is study and ski. No dorms, so I live in Lakewood, near the mountains. It takes me an hour and 15 minutes to get to breck, keystone, or copper. It takes about an hour to get to winter park, an hour and a half to get to vail or beaver creek. Hour and a half to a-basin as well.

Boulder is a good 30-40 minutes more than all these times, based on traffic. If you drive a fast car, and you drive it fast, you could make it from boulder to vail in an hour and a half if 93 South and I-70 West dont have heavy traffic, and you dont get pulled over.

Here is my steps to prepare for the drive from college to the hills.

1. Carry at least enough pot to smoke one bowl for every hour on the road. This will keep you occupied and keep you in the creative mind for skiing.

2. Bring the powder skis and the park skis. The weather can change really quickly, so be prepared for anything.

3. Have a fake ID or sombody over 21 with you. If you meet some good lookin snow bunnies in the park that have a hotel room, you want to have the booze covered.

4. Organize the carpool, and delogate duties. 4 person teams work best. The guy who drives, handles the car and the gas. The guy riding shotgun handles the pot. One dude in the back handles the alcohol, and the fourth handles the food. Food can be anything from chips and salsa to burgers, to steaks.

5. Plan out the trip before hand so shit has less of a chance of getting fucked up. If it is done right, it will cost each person $20-$50 based on how much stuff you wanna buy. It's at least $5 for each person for gas, $10 for food, $10 for booze and then $10-$20 for pot. Basically call it $50 for the weekend if you want to pimp it, but the more you do it the less it starts to costs as you find your own niche and your own spending limits and budget yourself.

If you wanna know more, need more money saving tips, or want to go ride here in Colorado, send me a message!

don't listen to phrosty.....sorry dude i go to csu and i work full time in greeley (where unc is). greeley is the most piece of shit town in this state with a college in it. there are tons of cow fields all around, and the town literally smells like shit all the time....the smell even blows up to fort collins sometimes (20 miles).

i don't know about the 3:1 ratio (where did you get that stat Phr?) but there are way more hot ass chicks in ft collins, and yes, even in boulder.

Boulder is close to eldora. Last year eldora sucked cock, and this year it will suck cock. I met the new manager of the terrain park and he sucked cock to get his management position. Phrosty is right about csu. For some reason all the hot girls in colorado migrated north. Greeley smells like shit. CU denver (my school)is cool, but dont count on meeting too many new people. Most everyone is antisocial. Fort lewis durango has awesome skiing. Durango mtn resort (formerly known as purgatory) is 20 minutes away from campus. Wolf creek pass and telluride are 1.5 hours away. Western state has the best skiing in colorado, but its a truck stop with a college. oh ya, did i mention, fuck cu boulder.

as much as i like csu and ft collins, don't come to school here if you are a hardcore skier (unless you have other specific reasons for coming here) the 2 1/2 hour drive to the mt's has really gotten on my nerves after almost 5 years

Summit country rocks especially now that keystone has stepped up to the plate my developing an awesome new park!!! its gonna have a 450ft pipe, shitload of rails and jumps, lift specific for terrain park and its all gonna be under lights everynight during the season!!!

scratch3 look at the rockies and ask yourself how baseball fares in colorado.....i dunno about cu but csu's baseball teamm isn't even an official varsity ncaa sport.

point being if you want to play baseball go to florida

Abba Zabba, you my only friend

strode ask any one that goes to unc. They will all tell you that there are way more girls than guys. Because it's a real good school if you want to be a teacher.

true. that actually makes sense Phr but where are you going to go when you finally get a date with one of these many upstanding teacher girls? ft collins, boulder, or denver because greeley is nothing more than an oversized hick town

Abba Zabba, you my only friend

fuck all colorado schools go to nevada or montana if you wanna ski.

numbers wise, i guess CU (here) isnt as good but in terms of quality... holy fuck. what strodeo said about the Rockies is actually a very accurate representation.

Look, you are all wrong. If you really want to get a college degree, Utah is the key. If you go to Boulder you will be too hung-over to actualy get up and drive an hour and a half to ski. If you go to Utah this is the way it works. Oh and I am about to finish so I know what's up. In the winter there isn't much of a social life. the fall is the best time to party here. (You have to know the right people though) Most of the time in the first two years you can take 12 hours (12-15 hrs is full time) two or three times a week, and be done every day you have class by 10:30 or 11:30. and since almost everything is 30-45 min away you can literaly ski every day. Oh and the school is easier than CU. The Bird and Alta are some of the best big mountain. that canyon holds Grizzley gulch (Chad's Gap and Pyramid Gap).. Brighton has sick backcountry. PC has the best park by far. Solitude is really tight for pow, but it is an hour fourty-five away from SLC.

Enjoy

i mean snowbaisin not solitude. solitude in just before brighton. nobody really goes there so they can have good pow after a storm too.

Check out 'Higher Education'

ok, is this a party school? fuck yes! are you really gonna be that hungover? only if you're a pussy! come on, esp for you east coast or midwest kids, are you gonna let a little headache get in the way of skiing real mountains?
