Here are the universies that i'm thinking about going to.

-Brock

-Guelf

-Lakehead

-Laurentian

-Laurier

-Nipissing

If anyone can give me help selecting it would be appreciated. The pros and cons of them. Why pick one over the other? What's good and whats bad about any of them... any tips at all.

 
guelph- AWESOME SCHOOL.. go there if you can get in. awesome night scene. great school. lots of people. great city. oh near blue (kinda.. blue accessible)

lakehead- fairly shitty so i hear, but i believe the girl to guy ration is like 7-1 or soemthing..and its in thunderbay. i mean there is a bar scene but its a lot of local folk and ugh.. just very cold and no skiing.

brock.. another great school. pretty much same as guelph but i think guelph is better.

nippissing. cant really say..

and i forgot the others.. mssage me and i can get out all the info and stuff i saw and tell ya

North Bay is kind of nice. There's a small ski hill, some decent mountain biking and a beach right in town. Don't know anything about the school though.

north bay represent. I am going to canadore (the college which is attached to nipissing) and both school are fucking awesome.

Dont listen to what anyone who hasn't been here says. It is one of the top schools in ontario judged by actual people that went there. Also, dont listen to the macleans rankings or whatever either, cuz they are all bullshit (even though canadore still hit the top 15 i believe, which is pretty good for being such a small school...only like 2000 students).

Residence is fucking pimp, the campus bar is always rocking...and canadore has a 6.6:1 girl to guy ratio, so that doesn't hurt.

Free wireless internet access for nip students on campus as well as tons of other shit. THe school is big time expanding right now, and the near north health center is being built at the bottom of college drive and once it's done there is a good chance nip is going to branch into medial studies as well.

i'm starting to apply to uni soon too... and right now i really like guelph and waterloo. but a lot depends on what you want to go into.

 
Depending on what u wanna go to Laurentian for.. im an LU student at Georgian College in Barrie doing a General Hons BA. We get all the perks of being a GC student as well as a LU student plus ur only like 20 mins from 'shoe and louie and 30 mins from Blue. It all depends on what your looking for from a school...

msg me if u want more info on the LU @ GC program.. i have to go write a midterm sorry

Going to the University of Guelph is how I figured out how much Ontario sucks. Guelph is the cliquiest school in Ontario, next to western, and isn't nearly as good as people make it out to be. The people are jerks, most rezzes are super ghetto(exception,Lennox Addington and townhouses, but TH's are literally in the middle of nowhere), and living in south rez is disturbingly similar to being in prison. Great food/cafeterias though, so it's a great school if you're a fatass.

Word of advise...

DEF take advantage of the prospect weekends that many schools offer... they let ya get a better view of the school and the type of people that go there...

If you're in to boozing... go to Guelph or Laurentian ( I'm from Sudbury, they used to have the most drunk students per week per capita). Skiing pretty shite there tho. From Guelph it's about an hour and ahalf to Collingwood, i can show you a route. i went to Laurier .. hottest chicks this side of Westernb but they're upity. It's more of a club party scene. Not too sure about nippising and the others.

I think it all depends on the kind of person u are, what ur party scene is, and what u wanna study... casue honestly they are all deciding factors...

Carleton! we were on david letterman's list of top party schools in north america(we drink western under the table any day)and we're not too far from st. savour and tremblant. the local hills within 30min drive are half decent too!

it all matters about your program. if it is business go to wlu, got chicks, cool city. their geogs program is really good to. wlu and guelph are the most respected of the ones you listed but i got friends at guelph and only the downtown is cool. the rest sux nuts. up north would be cool but then you are away from Blue mountain.

Whoever said Guelph has a good night scene? I cant remember anywhere else that you posted but dont go to Guelph b/c of the night scene.

Distance education.

Campus=wherever the hell you want. Including living at a resort.

Just have to make sure you're not too much of a pussy to make yourself work.

Carleton is amazing for Skiing. Vermont, Tremblant, Fortune. Plus the best white water kayakign and canoeing IN THE WORLD. It rocks here. Plus Hull is over the boarder 30 minutes. Good clubs and Bars there. It is also a decent school. and why has no one mentioned Queens?

Yo, obviously McMaster is the shiznit. Strong academics, nice campus, not too busy, good party scene and your only 2 hours from Blue.

Plus I go here so that makes it all worth while.

And everyone loves mullets and the Ti-cats, how could you go wrong?

we party with the aggies (ya..cowboys), hippies and the hoochies..

nicest people go here..nicest campus (MAC peeps you lie..the hammy sucks large)

definitly party-a-ble 7 days a weeks...NO LIE!

stay away from hull if you can! once some little 15 year old tried to pick me up there! that was the end of my partying there!

we have an awsome bar ditrict in ottawa. basically it caters to all tastes. we got peeler bars, top-40 clubs, hip hop clubs, retro clubs, irish pubs, you name it we got it!

Guelph really is a 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other. I have friends who go there that love it but I went and visited adn ti wasnt for me. But Unis realy are a personal choice. I love Barrie super close to skiing max 45 mins to Blue, hr to Toronto and all the bars down there. Georigan has KICK ASS pub nights practically every Wednesday. Cheap ngihts tues/thurs. but ya go visit the different schools that ur interested in talk to current students face to face.
