Damn Brian, did I ever tell you you're the best thing to hit Golden?
You make me want to come home. I might just come down for these events if you throw up the dates.
The thing about Golden, is it's much smaller, it's actually a ski town. We'd go ski, finish the day, and then all meet up later, I know the whole community atmosphere blew up after I left. Makes me feel sad that I missed out.
I've also noticed in Calgary, since it is a city many people decide to drive 1-2 hours to go skiing every day, people can get divided and not always have the tight knit feel towards other skiers since they might not have the opportunity to ski with one another everyday. Understand what I mean?
Along with the splitting of skiers between multiple mountains, people in Calgary (or at least COP) have crews. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with this, but from some crews I've seen, they aren't that open.
Where as back in Golden, we don't have these "crews", it's just everyone goes and skis with everyone. If some people don't want to ski with them, then so be it.
I guess in conclusion, Golden is a tighter knit community, and it has its reasons for becoming so. If we can get that kind of thinking to apply to the people in Calgary, it might become a stronger community.
