Underground pneumatic tube lifts

i think about this shit wayyyy too much cause i think it would be sooo sick but what if instead of over head lifts, we had underground tubes?

the aesthetic of no lift towers would be cool and feel more like you’re in the elements, there would never be any wind hold, could potentially be quicker. could build super long lifts from base to top. the way they transfer over, there could potentially be a day were you could travel a different route than the tube ahead or behind you. there could be tubes from the warehouse or shop to the restaurants and buildings so you could have access with all the tools without having to snowmobile.

who’s got Elons number?? lets make it happen

Sounds like a great idea in theory. But in reality there would be so many head aches to get something like that working properly inside a mountain. Especially with the conditions

yeah they put out a new memberberry cross? ^

in the east coast they ski garbage piles because they refuse to recycle... my dad worked with this ignorance, and devised a pre cast concrete enclosed walkway and elevator shaft that would be buried with trash, and, VOILA, skiing!

I think you are severely underestimating the cost of tunneling underground compared to throwing up some lift towers

i don't know much about vacuum pneumatics but typically pneumatics are incredibly inefficient as well.

sure but it's time for mtn owners to grow some balls. my mountain is going to have an internal elevator (or escalator?) that takes you to the top, and while we're at it we're gonna form the gnarliest inbounds cliff faces youve ever seen by having B-2s smart-bomb the shit out of the mountainside

the mtn's gonna be in vermont or nh btw so my commute is decent

You actually might be onto something here with forming cliffs with explosives. except use strategically placed mining explosives

Park City back in the 60s you would take the train into the mines and take the mine elevator up to the top of the mountain.

honestly though aside from the fact that only one train can go up and down at a time, europe's "funiculars" know whats up

We gotta trade the subways and chairlifts. Take a chairlift across a city, take the train up a mountain. Fr tho as long as uphill capacity is the same there will be effectively no difference in the number of runs you can get.

in my mind, it’s similar load time as a gondola but seems like it could go faster transport time and therefore have a higher up hill capacity. idk though. what if you needed to stop it for some reason? idk if stoping the air flow thats pulling everything up would hold it in place or not. there would definitely be some trouble shooting lmao and it would undoubtedly be cheaper to build above ground or potentially replace the lift cables with tubing on existing infrastructure. once i win that megamillions i’ll really sit down and look into it. i’ll report back

Mt snow literally wanted to nuke the north face in the 60s so the crater made it taller so your on to something

your lack of enthusiasm for us both having the same great idea has earned you a permaban from my future chairliftless resort. good work jamal

Sorry, I had to make a patent application for my great idea. In 24h hours my engineering team has made full blueprints for building this incredible future of lifts on to your home mountain. And guess who is never going be able to use one. Spoiler alert, It's you and your doppelgänger because half of the time I can't tell you two apart. I only remember that you are the cooler one. Have fun trying to find a ski resort where you can ski in the future. My company will have lift monopoly within decade of this moment.

I will be suing you for holding my intellectual property and for calling me Jamal. Jamals are the ones destroying Europe, I'm not one of them. I'm Jalmar, the one who will destroy your lift accessed skiing. My lawyer will deliver a letter to you personally

Sorry Not Sorry
