Underage Drinking Ticket

Okay so this weekend im partying in my college town and a cop stops me and bust me for possession of alcohol with intent to consume under 21, now i have a court date in a week and i kinda want to know wat to expect. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them and what are the consequences?
 
if you dont have a previous record it will be a slap on the wrist, probably about 20 hrs. community service and a small fine, but it obviously depends on the state you are in and specifically what those state laws state
 
If you're 18 or older, some states will be not bad but some states will be not so good. Im pretty sure in utah (keep in mind, UTAH) i know kids who were like 19 who got mips and had like a 300 dollar fine and had to pay 100 for a class. But in montana, 18 or older you get a 150 dollar fine and thats it. It all depends, just be prepared to pay a decent amount of money and do community service, the worse that can happen is that youre expections come true.
 
really? weird, what like area of utah/slc were you in? I guess the kids i know were in holladay and that place is gay as fuck when it comes to partying and drinking.
 
4th of July 2008 I got a MIP while camping and throwing back a few brews with some friends. total cost of the offense was about $1200 including court fees and everything. I had probation for 12 months (just got off last month) I had to do random drug and alcohol tests for the first 6 months of probo. fucking bullshit. and it was all for blowing a .05 while sitting around a campfire doing nothing wrong, except drinking.
Im from Michigan though and I heard we have way more strict rules about it for some reason.
 
Well im from New York and im above 18 im hoping i have to pay a fine and thats about it, cause i dont have anything on my record
 
I was 19 when I got mine. I had nothing on my record either. I highly doubt you will get as fucked as I did. Good luck with everything man
 
all we get in canada, well saskatchewan, is a $360 dollar ticket, it went up from a $190 dollar ticket last year, but most cops still write out 190's AND thats a rare case. Only on long weekends when underage drinking is really a problem, they usualy just pour it out
 
two of my friends got drinking tickets the same night. went to court with a lawyer, got out of the tickets, they had to go to classes, and had to have a brief good behavior stint. but thats all they got slapped with.
 
unless you have a previous record or are fighting the charge it would be pretty dumb to have to pay for a lawyer, just get a public defender and its dirt cheap, depends on the state but you will probably only have to pay like $50
 
hmm i got caught on campus and had to do 10hrs community service and that was it. Had lots of friends get caught off campus and they ended up doing 15-20hrs community service with no fines. Guess its different every, in this case a lot different for some.
 
weird the US is harsh, when i was 17 i got a ticket for underage drinking, drinking in public, public intoxication and obstruction of justice. All i ended up getting in the end was a 190$ fine and my record was wiped a week later because it was just before my 18th birthday :).
 
well, if the booz was un opened, and you weren't drunk, and the cop doesn't list that you were drunk or have a breataleized on you. you 1 are luck 2 can prolly get out off this scott free. have your mom or dad come to the court and say it was theirs and you were just bringing it to them, or they forgot it was with you.

I've seen this work when my firend got pulled over with 2 untapped kegs, his uncle came to the court and said the kegs were his, and his nehpew got ot scott free. it was awsome the faggor DA and cop who were trying to prosecute him to the full extent shat a brick when the uncle said he had forgot he left the kegs in his nephews truck. lol

I've seen friends get adult felony drug charges get off the hook with less than that, + the oppurtunity for it to be erased from their records if they pass probation.

don't get a fucking lawyer for this bullshit. the judge will just tell you to stay out of trouble for a certain length of time (probably a year or 18 months) and fulfill certain conditions like a drug/alc eval or class. you pay a fine and then its done. off your record

I got caught with open alcohol in public when I was 16 in Quebec and the cop made me chug it and give him the empty. I saw the same cop the next night with a case of beer and he just checked that they weren't open and I wasn't drinking in public and asked me how my last night was...

Never herd of anyone getting anything worse then being told to empty their beers down a sewer here...
 
I didnt read the other posts. but my friend got caught underage drinking with his temps (he was 16) went to court and gotput on probation for 6months, got a drug test every 2weeks, and he can just couldnt get his license for 6 months. (butnow he gets them in january.

 
yeah same. I have been caught a lot and the worst they have done is make me pour it out. On good occasions, it's drink as much in one, and they take the rest away.
