Ultimate ski touring lunch

this is awesome! definitely done something of the sort but it was more a desert snack not actually hearty enough. going to try this soon!

Ya boys. I was stoked on how full one makes you. I was also hesitant to make anything for so long because I thought it would be hard.

"it gives me street cred with all the hippies on the skin track." YUP. Looks good.

Also, have these ever made you shit yourself whilst out for a tour? Looks like a reasonable possibility...not that it is a bad thing, I enjoy a good shart every now and again. Who doesn't?

My lunches are always lame. After years of bush work in the summer I have lost all interest in making good lunches when I'm out. Typically it involves a peanut butter sandwich, chocolate bar, and an apple or two.

I tend to stick to making a sack lunch the night before, normally a bagel and cream cheese with salami, plenty of apples, mini pretzels, string cheese or baby bels, carrots, amd cliff builder bars or granola bars of some kind. Then as an on the mountain snack, stingers or shot blocks.

Summer sausage and a nice block of cheddar plus some bars/trail mix are my go-to. Just need to remember the knife to dice everything up.

It's all about cold pizza and pie in a tupperware.

foil is my preferred pizza storage.

And meat log (peppered salami is my favorite) is essential

One of my go-tos has been Peanut Butter and/or nutella spread on a whole wheat wrap sprinkled with granola and honey. Yum.

Apples and a small portion of peanut butter, whether is's a pouch of Justin's, Nutella, DIY, or personally I just use condiment cups with a lid from our Cafe.

Also, I'm a big fan of Apple Sauce packets.

And, of course, a 12pk of Clif bars from Walmart only runs for $10 if I'm feeling lazy.

My fave make-ahead-of-time sammy is hands down an eggo PB&J. The little squares hold the stuff really well and toasting it keeps it from getting soggy. So easy. So delicious. For pro level shenanigans create a penthouse floor with another eggo and Nutella.

Also babybels and cured meat log/jerky of some kind is always a gut fav. Proteins stay in your stomach longer but don't metabolize as fast. Mix accordingly with chocolate and/or other things you like.

Good lord why have i never tried that. Brb buying egos

Spruced up my lunch today. Token pb sandwich, Apple and cocolate bar - but I added a carrot muffin. good times.

I haven't actually shit myself from the prunes in the lunches, although skiing pillows last week out at a hut I might have sharted a little. I'm not going to put that one on the lunches though. I made home made beef jerky for a week of touring and I was surprised at how easy it was. 2.5 hrs in the oven on low with the door cracked.

Kim-bap (Korean bbq nori roll basically) or rice cakes are compact, unsquishable and tasty cold or warm. That might be a Seattle only thing though, moght be hard to procure in Montana.

I must be some kind of camel, but 3 pints of water and 2000 'good' calories is enough to last me until I get home. For day trips whether I'm climbing, skiing or just hiking I don't like to eat.

Cheapest bars with most energy per gram?

Not a chance. In Canada a Snickers costs $1/$1.25 and are tiny. I've never been able to get through a day on a small chocolate bar. Convenient though!
