Hi there, I'm looking into going to UBC starting the fall 2012 semester. Just wondering if there's anybody here that wants to share what it's like to be a student at the vancouver campus. I'd be going into mechanical engineering. And I am also a US citizen, so I would need to get a study permit.

Feel free to chime in whatever about going to UBC and living vancouver. I'd really appreciate it. I plan on visiting sometime before 2011 too.

thanks.

Im going this year (moving in on the 3rd). So I cant say too much now but ill report back later haha.

i'm going into 3rd year integrated engineering. from what I hear, mech ain't easy as it has an intense curriculum (although most engineering programs are anyways, mine included), but it's supposedly a sick program and everyone I know that went into it is happy with their decision. if you're sure you want to go into mech, then by all means go for it, you will get a sweet fuckin' education here.

I assume you are just entering uni, so you will have to take 1st year general engineering before you can decide your program anyways. make sure you work hard to keep your average high, mech is usually the hardest program to be accepted into since there is a lot of competition for a limited number of seats.

as far as the campus life etc. goes, do what garnia said and look through this forum!

good luck
