I'm from Ontario and I'm looking to apply to the commerce program at the Vancouver campus. I know the required courses but I cant seem to find any info about minimum admission average! I've heard its really high but I want a number. Does anyone know it? Also, anyone at UBC for the commerce program or just UBC in general? write some comments on it! I would like to know the school i'll be going too if i actually get in. And how's the skiing like?

Sorry that was alot of questions, im just really looking into my university options right now because when it come time to apply in a few months i want to be ready.

Thanks!

Hey man,

We look forward to having you! I am a second year Commerce student at UBC, and am loving it. Beautiful campus, and soooo many great things to do. As for your admission average question, I would aim for as high as you possibly can. The supplementary application plays a big roll, I know people who have gotten in with mid 80's and people who have been turned down with low 90's in the same admission period. Put a lot of effort into it! I myself got in with a 93ish average, but the supplementary plays a huge role like I said.

As for the skiing, we have tons of great places to go, ski trips with the ski and board club or various other clubs and/or faculties, and best of all lots of great people to ski with.

Work your ass off, get those high grades, and I look forward to seeing you here.

Good luck,

Davis

In terms of a campus, it is hard to beat. just beautiful and fun all the time.

For commerce admissions, your average and supplementary is weighted approximately 50/50. That means your extra curriculars writing ability are just as important as your average.

If you have an decent supplementary, the average is probably around 90%. That being said , I've heard of people with 97% getting turned down because of a hit supplementary, and 85%'s being accepted because of a great supp. so it really varies, just strive to improve both as much as possible.

Alright its good to hear that the supplementary is so important. My grades are alright, i have about a 85 average every year but i hope to bring it up because i've been working really hard on my math. My supplementary is actually really good i would say. Work experience, 150+ hours, school involvement etc. That's what the supplementary is right?

Thanks for the replies, i really appreciate it! Keep em coming! :D

Can someone explain what the supplementary thing exactly is? Does it apply for science as well? I might be applying to ubc next year for science and I think I have good enough grades, but I'm not sure about the supplementary.

the ubc campus is one of the most beautiful in the world.

vancouver has a very high quality of life.

if you set aside that it s a boring city for partying (almost no good shows, and everything closes really early) it s one of the nicest place in the world.

whistler is a beautiful mountain i hope you ll end up going to ubc.

I believe in sciences/most faculties you can do a supplementary and if you're below the cut-off GPA they'll look at it so you still have a chance of getting in.
