getttttiinnnggg puuumped!

this is what my friend said about where im living

"Nice man i was in totem but i have it on good authority that the food there is better and it is closer to classes and the whistler bus. Sounds like a good setup"

too bad Mack is an all male house...nbd though the rest of vanier has hot girls. and yes I can vouch the cafeteria is way better than totem.

Pretty much exactly what I heard, but totem is also the party res, whereas vanier is more of the studying res. Glad I got Vanier.

Does anybody know of good extracurricular things to do to meet people? Is the ski club any good? Im thinking of joining that, the sailing club, varsity outdoors club, and/or the surfing club.

thats why I want to join also. I also want to join the sailing club because you can learn to sail all different types of boats and windsurf. They let you use their fleet as well. That outdoors club has all sorts of rock climbing and camping stuff you can use for free also. They also have telemark equipment for when I freel like doing that.

UBC ski and board often has joint parties/events with the surf club, both are good clubs. I didn't do much club activity last year, they always have shit on weeknights which didn't work for me since I live at home in North Van, ie. I couldn't just drink and then drive home, then go to class at 8 AM the next day. (yay engineering). Hoping to do more club shit this year though, just gotta get me a girl that lives in residence or something so I have a bed to sleep in when I'm drankin'

I'm sure this has been addressed in another thread in regionals somewhere but for the sake of all us college noobs I'll ask once again.

How long does it take to get to whistler from campus? If somebody could let me know the travel times via your own car and the bus that would be greatly appreciated.

jea going into first year of business and I'm in Place Vanier, Korea House, fourth level.... from campus, I can imagine the trip to Whistler is about two or two and a half hours...

geh if you're lucky. Its like 1.5 hours from North Van to whis. Closer to 2 hours from UBC, and seems to be like 2.5 getting home with more traffic.

hey mike.. guess how long it takes to get from my house to whistler.

3 minute walk to the gondola! you should flake out 2nd semester. :)

dayum im having trouble finding someone to trade housing arrangements with haha. no of anyone in a co-ed house who wants to trade for a guys house single room?

Hey guys not a hardcore skier mainly snowboarder/instructor here who wants to take advantage of the big Mountains to really get into Skiing. I 'm starting Poli Sci Major this September. 2 weeks and a day till I fly out from Toronto. I'm in a single room at Totem res.

anyone have any courses to recommend in 'Creative & Performing Arts'?

they took me out of a course so im 3 credits short of 30 which is what im goin for

gettttin pumped, move in days soon!

Have you tried registering for anything yet? I had to get another course and that was next to impossible to figure out because they were all full or conflicting with my time table. Wound up taking a computer programming class, not too stoked on that. Maybe it will be interesting though ahahha.

With any luck you'll have better luck, but when I had to add a course it was a bitch.

I'm a 3rd year commerce major, and computer science was by far the worst elective you could take for a simple interesting GPA booster. I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm only taking it to get another 3 credits, and at the time I couldn't find anything that would fit. I might try to switch it around but my options are pretty slim at this point. Just need to pass it anyways.

Yeah fair enough. Most comp sci is pretty mathematical and logic driven. There are far simpler and less stressful ways of getting the required credits.

anyone got a single in totem or any coed house who wants to trade me for my single in mackenzie? really close to the cafe!

I might be volunteering with a disabled group up there, not too sure on that one yet. Not planning to actually work during the semester, don't think I'll have the time.

And what is the PAL/RPAL?

stooooked

i leave this thursday the second then ill have a day to buy shit with my fam before we move in on saturday. not looking forward to my single room in mackenzie house though, fucking sausage building

Ahhh I see that's what I figured.
lol PAL/RPAL is a Firearms License, a couple guys I know were thinking of starting up a club for anyone interested. I know BC has a big shooting sports community. If your not licensed and are interested in getting licensed or just getting a chance to shoot firearms we'd be looking at having an introductory shoot at one of the Ranges in the Greater Vancouver Are. At this time I can't comment on cost but it would likely include a BBQ of some sort.
Shooting sports would be whatever your flavour is, Service Rifle, CQB Matches, IDPA, IPSC, 3 Gun, Trap, Long Range, etc.

4 or 5 but most of them are thin. Several flannels. I got a lot of long sleeves shirts. I got my dad coming out a month later bringing my winter stuff out board and gear. 3 more sleeps.
