What a show! Had to get used to the darkness a bit but boy! They shined and flashed! It was hard to take pictures due to the light pollution

After driving four hours with the wife and kids to bum fuck Ohio to watch the eclipse in totality, I was pretty stoked knowing I’d be able to see this from my own backyard

Shut all the lights off, went out to the deck throughout the night to check and got boned by the weather, didn’t even get a glimpse

My phone is a potato but you could see them with your eyes. Not too much brighter than this. Some people got some really sick photos with phones or better cams.

But it was cool as fuck to see them from CA. Im in mammoth, closer to Mexico than Canada

In September and October, North West Territories and Nunavut gives amazing lights. They are much different; they are mostly distinctly green and way more banded. This was a special event!

From my apartment balcony pointing straight east and literally 1000 feet from an airport. In a major metro area.

The fact I could see them as well as I could with all the light pollution was wild.

This summer being the 11 year solar maximum means we are in for a treat.

I was stuck in town but managed to make this timelapse on the balcony. This is in Winterthur Switzerland.
