Congrats to Woodsy and Keri!

No one seems to get this, so let me explain.

TV stations pay for rights to broadcast. ESPN/ABC has a contract with xgames, NBC has a contract with dew tour and grand prix. ESPN chooses to steam online live but nbc doesnt. They want people to watch the broadcast on tv so they can make more money off of advertisers. Sure, alot of people would watch it online but that market of advertisement for big tv stations like abc/nbc/cbs hasn't progressed quite yet. NBC will restrict the live streams in their contracts so that they can get more viewers on their tv broadcast. maybe < 100 people might get mad, but those companies don't care. even if those 100 don't watch, 10s of thousands, maybe 100s of thousands will still watch it on tv (a small fraction of that, maybe 1% actually being people who are skiers). Its just how it works.

Also, forgot to add live broadcast is a completely different system then recording then putting it on tv, they need a whole separate crew for live broadcast, even live stream. NBC was showing a bunch of other stuff already today on tv that was probably either already scheduled/more important to NBC than the grand prix so they didnt spend the money on it.

Woodsy was right 9, left dub 10, right dub 12

Russ was Left dub 10, right dub 12, left sw dub 12

No idea on ABM. Pretty wild contest, dudes were definitely throwing down on a small course with slow snow.

Woodsy had been doing 4 on the down rail to 4 off the cannon, not sure what he did in the finals, I was at the bottom of the jumps.

Russ did (I think) lip 2 to 2 off the down to switch 2 2 off the bus stop thingy.

Oh, I thought at the comps they just showed it on big screens too so everyone could see where they weren't.

They do. I saw Russ' rails from the lift, but am a bit foggy on what they were. Didn't see Woodsy's but am assuming he did the same thing he was doing in qualis. I was skiing with my campers all day so I couldn't just post up and watch everything.

super impressive runs on what looked like a pretty limiting course. not particularly inspiring rail section, small jumps close together.

fucking stoked for woodsy, and russ's and ABM's runs were rad too.

holy reality check for freeskiing as a mainstream thing though. There were like 5 people there watching! every WC ski race I've been to or seen on tv has thousands of spectators going nuts!

either way, surely woodsy has pretty much already qualified for the olympics? absolutely no idea how the points work mind you. for a brit to go 2/2 is fucking incredible! yeeeew!

also, what the devil has happened to the progression of pipe skiing? I mean, I can see that conditions weren't great here but i feel like the winning pipe runs from recent comps would barely have podiumed back when the likes of Kevin, Jossi, Xavier, Dorey, Dumont etc were going ballistic.

And what happened to the dudes that were doing loads of rad switch hits? am I alone in thinking that pipe skiing has stagnated big time? i admit, i don't follow shit as closely as i used to so if some one shows me some evidence to the contrary i'll happily hold up my hands.
