U guys stretching?

I want the fexibility of a 2 month old child, but i (equally as much) don't want to stretch.

U guys stretching or nah? If so what muscels are you focusing on?

Yeah twice a day man. I honestly like to block out a whole 15-20 minutes of my day and dedicate it to stretching. No phone, no interactions of any kind, just stretching. It almost feels like it releases dopamine and i feel so much better afterwards, especially if I skied recently.

No. I'm going with the [tag=9584]@freelowda[/tag] and [tag=92351]@P-White[/tag] theory that being too flexible makes you prone to injury because if you're too loose that's when your joints etc can slip apart.

It's all about being tight af dudes

Ur a superhuman to me. I just had a stretching session... lasted about 7 minutes before calling it quits, and i have no ambitions of tying again tomorrow!

I think it’s important to stretch some things. For example, if your legs can’t bend in certain ways then your knees can start to bend to compensate which can lead to injury

While I initially took this as sarcasm and I've never heard of this before...it does actually make a good bit of sense. Interesting...

Returned to tell you I've been streching the past two days, even thrown on some psychedelic rock haha. Do you warm up your legs before a session? If so, how?

Doing anything I can to stay young, stay active, stay hott, and stay limber:

Dancing

yoga

qi gong

pilates

baseball stretches

balance board

Alexander Technique

lightweight dumbbells

Swimming

Jacuzzi

There’s some in the playlist I use, but I haven’t gone very deep into their discography.

Same here. Stay active stay young...

Whats Alexander technique??

I do a full body stretching yoga like routine I made up over the last few years right before I crawl into bed. About 10-15 minutes worth depending on how I feel. I 'll also roll out or massage muscles if I feel I need to at this time. I also stretch randomly when watching tv or doing stuff on the computer Usually its towards the end of the day .

Worst injuries I've had were sprained ankles in high school and in my early 20s.

Omg Alexander Technique, freaking life-changing. I could go on all day about it.

It's kinda like a posture training thing where you slowly move around and meditate on how the muscles in your body are all connected and how the most instinctive human motions are the most optimized.

You aim to enlighten yourself on the natural balance of your skeleton.

Once you get that down, you add in breathwork and an activity such as playing an instrument, dancing, doing sports, or working.

For me it really improves strength, natural ability, balance, precision, reflex, mentality, flexability, and fluidity.

And it just makes you feel happier and more confident cuz your body feels so light and whole when it is sensing its body physics through space.

Yo you got any good places to learn more about this?

Interesting. Same as the person above me mentioned wheres a good place to learn more?

Stretching is good, highly recommend it. I try and stretch everyday for 15 mins and then do a workout, yoga once a week along with cardio 3 times a week. Im old and have to keep my body going before it shuts down.

I got lucky and fell in with a group class. Did like 4 one hour sessions as a workshop that was part of a musician's retreat.

I would find someone in your state and reach out. See when they are doing a week long session and get it down in a concentrated shot. Maybe after covid. I wouldn't recommend doing over zoom.

I've been stretching my hamstrings like crazy. It definitely helps me recover if I fall on rail or a jump. I'd recommend trying to stretch right when you get out of bed.

An evening stretch session daily works for me. I like 2-3 minute holds stretching my legs, hips, and back. I do some triathlon stuff, and the stretching gets me through long running miles--helps with recovery, too. Feels good going to bed loose and it's easier to get out of bed in the morning.

When I really need a good recovery, a Yin Yoga session is $$$$$$.

I used to be able to not stretch. I also used to be able to get blackout drunk, get up at 5:30 AM, run 10 miles, and top it off with a Newport cigarette 5 days a week.

But age.

I try but have no clue what im doing. I look like a little kid trying to do gymnastics on my floor. (someone drop some help please)

I always start with three sun salutations, really focusing on my breathing and the downward/upward dog parts. Then I start from my feet and really slowly work my way up. I focus on one muscle at a time starting with the calves, then whatever runs over the shin, up to my upper leg, hips, etc. There are tons of stretches you can look up online or do whatever feels good. I have a routine I use derived from my old highschool track warmup. Basically, yes you will look like a kid trying to do gymnastics on the floor!

tbh I do sun salutations every morning, stretching feels so good and is a nice way to wake up/ start my day
