On the other hand, Jean Daniel Pession, 28 years old from Antagnod, blue of the national speed team and almost aspiring mountain driver. Together in life, they died after falling 700 meters from the top of Mount Zerbion.
It took hours and hours of overflight to locate them: there were no traces on the rock that suggested that they had fallen. Perhaps, as they proceeded in preserves along the ridge that divides the north and east walls, they slipped on the snow or the ground succumbed. They had left early in the morning to reach a summit they both knew. The family members, not seeing them return, called the single rescue center that immediately activated the helicopters. The yellow flame apparatus that detects the telephone signal has managed to hook their cells. When the technicians got off with the winch they found them still tied together.
Their bodies were taken to the Champoluc mortuary. The recognition operations are entrusted to the Guardia di Finanza of Breuil-Cervinia.

super sad. it is cruel irony that the system of being connected can often lead to lives being saved but in some cases to additional loss of life. not sure if that's the case here but certainly could be.
