Tuning/wax table on the cheap?

Looking for a cheap alternative to buying a $200 swix table.

What are y'all using? Sawhorses? Ironing table?

Wanted to gauge opinions on good options before I decide on anything. Thanks.

none that i can think of/know of, but there are some cheap ski vises out there if you look hard enough.

Make a simple table out of 2x4's with an MDF top. If you don't have cash for a decent set of vices, some 4x4's wrapped in rubber with some slots cut for side edging and sidewall planing will more than suffice.

You can get some big stable sawhorses and they'll do the trick, you'll just have to be carefull with your pressures so you don't slide your skis off and I like setting the horses up real wide right near then end of my skis

What do you put on top of the sawhorses? Just a slab of wood and attach your vises there?

You don't even really need vises, but yeah, nail a sheet of plywood cut in half lengthwise to the sawhorses and you'll have a nice big work space

Going the ghetto route is for sure doable- you just need to replicate what a vise does and what a stable work bench does. Using an old desk or junker table will work for sure, and you can just use wooden blocks to prop your skis up.

While that can do the job and get you by, nothing will ever compete with having a nice work bench and a good vice set up. Having the proper tools is an investment, but that also means you will have them for a long time, and they make the job go soooo much easier. Once you buy the proper tools (for anything) you will be super glad you did.

If you get the metal saw horses/door painting stand you can attach your vises straight to it.

Its what i used to use when i raced and needed stuff that was compact for travelling. they work suprisingly well.

How stable do you really need it to be? If your just using it for waxing and edge work, I literally use two saw horses with some padding on them, nothing else. More than stable enough to wax and work on your edges. If your doing binding work I can see needing more though.
