Tuckermans Ravine

So i just did this hike/ski today on a whim (because that's how i do things). Fucking insane. Only way i can really put it. I completely underestimated the toll it has on a person. i was about 200ft from the summit when i just lost my mind. It was an experience worth having and i'll be back to reach the summit as soon as i recover but until then i'm just glad i got down.
Anyone here ever done it? It was one hell of an experience, did not realize the mental toll it can have on you. Physical was expected though.

ive done it in past years it was easily the best ski day. how's it looking up their. still good? I might go next weekend.

I go up a bunch each spring, I usually do 2 day trips and camp at hermit lake. It can get pretty crazy up there, especially when there are large college groups. I've seen some nasty falls off the headwall and a few avalanches to, not major ones just shallow slush slides

It takes a long time to hike up to the base of the ravine, then you have to hike up a steep incline to get to the top and it gets tiring. I think that's what he's saying

for me at least, i'm out of shape as fuck. physically i couldn't do it. got up there too late so the face was pretty much in shadows. It's completely silent with what's one of the steepest runs i've ever climbed up. I was pretty much up there by myself. and kinda as CO said, all i could think of was falling because of how tired i was. it's gnarly man. Fun, but fucking gnar.
and i thought you were busy t =(

tuckermans is so sick! I went last wednesday and skiied all the way down Sherburne. I do it every year, but this was my first time skiing Sherburne, and i hope i never have to hike down again.

Went way back in seventh grade. The two memories that stayed with me most (besides how indescribable it is there) were feeding a squirrel with my bare hands, and having a lady catch her downhill edge and slide head first down the whole ravine right next to me with the most blood curdling scream I have ever heard.

I wanna do it so bad! Spent a good chuck of time @ Loon this winter and that's what everyone talks about. What's the latest it goes? Assuming the good conditions have passed but my boarder friends said it was alright.

i am hoping to ski tuckermans in june. hopefully it holds up. OP glad u had such a mind blowing experience up there.
