Trying to get a final exam date moved

Im a Freshmen in college and my exams go from the 10-13th in December. We (my family) are flying down to New Orleans on the 13th of december because my sister has a med school interview at Tulane and we are just sorta making a short vacation out of it. Although, I have an exam at 3:00 P.M. on Friday the 13th. The same day our flight is scheduled for.

How easy would it be to get my exam moved to an earlier date because for a family obligation? Or should i just not even bother asking and just fly down the day after by myself? The professor for the class is pretty cool so Is it up to the professor or is it up to the school?
 
Why don't you just talk to your teacher about it. Every school and every teacher is different. It's a simple yes no question so it's not like its going to kill you to ask. /thread.
 
basically no school will ever do this. they always tell you to book your flights after the final exam schedule is posted.

you might be able to get the exam deferred, although that's unlikely if it's so you can go on vacation. plus then you will have to take the exam next time the course is offered.
 
I've slept through a final exam before. The exam schedule had our exam at 8am, so it's no surprise that I didn't make it. I emailed the professor saying I didn't make it, pretty much accepting the 0. He let me take the exam home and bring it back the next day. Some Charlie Sheen winning shit there.

Point it, email the professor. Most are probably willing to schedule around your trip, if not, fly out the day after.
 
last december I had to opportunity to play in a "once in a lifetime" kind of golf tournament in florida where my dad and i got to play 4 days with 4 different professional golfers and their son or daughter.

I found out that we would be playing in the tournament back in september and had already known when my exams would be. i had a exam scheduled for one of the days i would have been on the golf coarse. so i told my teacher in early September that i was supposed to be in my sisters wedding that week in december and asked if i could take the exam early. and it worked. i took the test in the testing center the week before i left for florida. i felt pretty bad about lying but it worked.

It obviously depends on your school and your particular professor but i bet if you come up with a good enough excuse then you can get it done.

 
Just ask your professor. I've done it multiple times without even giving an excuse and they have let me every time

Given this much notice i doubt any professors will give you shit.

The teacher is probaly teaching other courses if not other sections of your class.

ive done this everyyear to get home skiing

only once ive been denied taking final at another time --

but i didnt give like months of notice or just reason
