This is called whataboutism. The assassination of any political figure is obviously a bad thing but excusing this because of our country’s past sins is a dumb take. My argument is that if your first reaction to an attempted political assassination isn’t revulsion, then you’re probably a morally bankrupt individual. Democracy will die if we allow things like this to be minimized or excused.

I didn't excuse anything, It's just interesting that it's such a big deal only if it's in America. Also I'd say our governments foreign policy is always fairly relevant. Also definitely ties in well with people's hatred of immigrants. Especially those coming from countries we destabilized over the years.
