im movin to truckee in 3 weeks for the winter. i have very few plans,just packin up and goin with 2 of my buddys. any local knowledge bout this area would be much appreciated

i.e. good jobs, rent prices on the cheap, bc spots, etc.

I almost lived there last year. rent is fairly cheap, compared to the rest of CA. As far as BC goes you are in a great location. There is lots of good riding between sugarbol ski resort and donner lake. in the areas with the train tracks. the worst part of truckee is who lives there, 9/10 people are guys.

how close is the skiing(alpine, squaw, northstar, and whatever is close by)

n*, squaw, alpine, boreal, sugarbowl and donner are all about 10 to 15 min. away.
