my buddy today got his first car, its a 1989? Ford Ranger, and he was shifting into 2nd gear and it wouldn't go so he had to give it some muscle to get it into gear, and it just stopped working, he can move the shifter around in a complete circle without it going into any gears,

i asked my cousin who knows everything about cars and he said its the shift linkage

so what do you think it is

NOTE: the car is obviously manual

the first problem is that hes driving a ford the second is that he is driving a truck, the third is probably the linkage
