im having trouble with my 5's i am getting to 3 easy and then i mess up from there should i just suck my knees up and hope i get it or does anyone have tips thank you

Throw it a little harder than the three, but also for the 360, spot your landing over the shoulder in the direction you are spinning. Once you have completed the 360, don't switch your head to the other side, continue to spot the landing as you spin the last 180. i hope this makes sense. Visualizing might help. Good Luck!

I cant five, but your problem is probably cause your bringing your head back, keep in on your shoulder until your at 5

Just think that its just one more 180. Go a little faster then if you were spinning a three and set the spin a little harder. Dont be afraid to turn your back to the landing just look back up the landing right in front of your skis when you come around to five land and ride it out.

the hardest part of getting 5s for me was landing them properly... the rotation shouldnt be that hard, you dont need to wind up huge and try and spin like crazy, just spin a 3 but keep looking over your shoulder...

just huck a few and see how it feels and then fine tune it from there.

just spin faster and go bigger thats how i learned them! make sure you do it from the hips and core and not your shoulders and arms though.

Just think of it as a little 180 more dude

you set a little harder, dont whip it, and when your at 3 just start to rotate your hips and land switch, just keep it comin youll get them

Change your mindset for the fives

Three's for me are like "UP, POP, focus/look for the landing, STOMP (maybe)'

Fives are more like "UP, POP + ROTATION, keep rotation until past 360, focus on landing, STOMP (doubtfully...)'

Could not help you at all, but I think that would have helped me

carve into the 3 more and try leading grabs like phils grab or lead tail that will help your body initiate the spin more. essentially the pop is the exact same for a 3 or a 7 as well as the wind up its just spotting.
what helped me learn fives was practicing cab 3's off of smaller jumps and getting used to the idea of landing backwards off of a spin larger than 180. if you learn your tricks switch and forward during the same time making that next 180 is easier to visualize as a switch five feels like a forward three sixty as far as spotting it is just one turn of the head. and once you get regular fives switch sevens feel the same you just have to ignore the first switch 180 and practice popping out of a carve and not buttering or popping off of both inside edges. hope that makes sense good luck!

I learned 5s a few weeks ago, and I just pop the same as I would for a 3, set a tad harder, go a little faster keep spotting over my shoulder and keep my shoulders from opening up, until I land switch.

Once you land one you will realize they are just as easy as 3's. Throw it like you mean it and once you spot the landing, don't turn away. Commit to the trick and you'll get this.

Find a little jump and pencil the shit out of them. Sure it doesn't look cool, but it will help you get the rotation down without getting hurt. Work on getting a solid pop, not taking off to early, and keeping a forward stance off of the jump. Even though you can takeoff much more backseat and land a 5 than you can with a 3 it's important to keep your weight forward off the jump. This will especially help when you start to learn 7's. When you pencil you don't have to worry about getting your knees up or grabbing, you're just working on the basics of the trick. Once you've got consistent 5's, work on alternating between 3's and 5's so you can easily and effectively control your rotation in the air.

Now you have the pencil rotations down you can find a slight bigger jump and start throwing them. You won't need to pencil them but you don't need to worry about grabs yet. Get them consistent before you throw too much shit in them. Then go from there by adding your own steeze and taking them bigger.

If you're working on grabs, 90% of the problems people have while grabbing spins are caused by reaching for the grab while they're barely off the jump. Remember, get a solid pop and set your spin and THEN grab. You want to be at least 90 degrees into the spin before you start to grab and with bigger spins you'll need to wait until 180.

Remember, keep at it, and have fun. You don't need to be the steeziest kid in the park when you're learning a new trick.

Ooh, and remember, the difference between a 3 and a 5 is only a 180. And you can do a 180 off of flat ground. Set only slightly harder than you would for 3 and pivot your hips for the last 180.

go up set your spin exactly like a 3 but dont turn your head keep looking over your shoulder, you'll come around just fine. 5s are sick cause you get to see your landing forever.

for me 5s were the hardest trick for me to learn other than getting my 3s down... the day after i stomped my first few 5s i went out and i landed my first try at a 7... its all about just going out there and hucking it so you know what itll feel like.

maybe your problem is landing switch...just try practicing 180s on that same jump...this may not be your problem, but it could be...

what i mean is maybe your scared of landing switch so just try and get as comfortable as possible landing switch before you try the 5 again

This is just a suggestion but maybe you should get comfortable with switch 3s and then that might help with a 5.

That is what I did and then i tried a 5 and I stomped it perfectly. I think that it just puts you into a comportability zone when you spin big and land swich.

Spinning really easy once you get it down, you just need to know how. The best I can explain it is that your entire body follows the movement of your head..... Pop off the jump, turn your head, your shoulders follow, then your hips (this all happens really quick). When you want to stop spinning spot your landing.

My best advice is to take the above into consideration, watch a bunch of videos... slow mo, normal time, keep rewinding them and watch what the skier is doing- it will make a lot of sense after. Before you hit the jump, know exactly what you're going to do and know you're going to land.... too many ppl take blind leaps trying new shit and hurt themselves.

To sum is all up, know what you have to do and commit to it. Hope that helped.

Huck IT lol jk think of it in your head a 360 spot the landing and 180. well easier said than done lol but get the 360 on dial and feel comfortable setting that rotation so why u 5 you dont have to think about spiining as much and getting that 180 easier, but what do i no lol GL.
