Trouble with 360s

I’ve been working on 360s all season and haven’t been able to stomp one. This is the best I’ve done. Is there anything I’m doing wrong?

i would say all of the "keep your head straight and focus on one spot while rotating" shit. but i'm too tired of that.

just keep trying to rotate fully and maintain a flat rotation

fuck G shits hard

When you jump, try to rotate three hundred and sixty degrees. Keep looking ova ya shoulder then spot the landing. Keep grinding

Thanks man. I’m gonna really try to focus on that because I think I get to 180 or 270 and my head stops turning

You threw really hard with your arms and head, but then those stalled out at 180. Your legs caught up and whipped around but you were still looking back at the jump. Try to keep your whole body spinning by making sure your hips and legs are just behind your upper body, with your head leading. You shouldn't be setting it all with your upper body. I know this sounds dumb but unclip from your skis and do it on the ground. When you ski off the jump its exactly the same motion, don't do any more wind up.

Just to expand - try to focus on popping before spinning that's what I've been working on

Cranking your head first will cause all kinds of problems. You're supposed to keep your head foreword til 90º, setting from your arms and chest. Cranking your head around won't do shit, but at like 180/270 you can start trying to spot your landing.

Jumping off from some of the good advice above, a solid straight air pop first is key to any trick, not leading the spin with your head and shoulders aswell, but the way I find best to describe how you want to set your spin is to set it from your core, use that central joining point to power you, not starting from your upper or lower body alone, this way you're not turning your feet and your head playing catch up or vice versa, its a whole body movement.

As you do bigger spins on the same size jump you'll need some of the momentum from setting with your arms you're currently powering you spin with, but they can only give so much before you end up spinning in parts as you've found, but if you can get the pop and setting from your core for a 3 on this jump dialed in, its the same concept for everything else.

Ayyy its jbar jump!

Like fauna said use your core to set the spin. Dont throw your arms as much. Make sure your leaning forward with your shins against your boot tongues.

Your core (abs) is not engaged so your body is twisting and arms and legs are flailing around causing you to lose control. Set up for the jump with a little lower stance and tighten your abs on the takeoff. Keep your core engaged while you rotate and focus on your arms and legs moving all as one.

Its easy to practice this. Just stand in your room and do a 180 jump with your eyes level, core engaged, feet apart and hands up like your are holding your poles. Try to keep your body in that same position for the rotation and while you land. Do some sets until your body learns the proper form then do 360 rotations. Do this for 10 min a day every day. Then when you get to the snow your body will have leaned the proper form and core engagement and you will feel much more controlled in the air.

If you have a trampoline its good to practice this as well.

Alright update; did my first 360 attempts of the season today off this sidehit and I’m getting closer. I focused on keeping my head looking around the rotation and I think that’s what I was missing. Just gotta get those shoulders under control now.

do a bunch of 360s on the ground then try some in your ski boots it helps

The recipe I always preach:

1). POP. Hard.

2). LOOK. Your body follows your head.

3). COMMIT. Self explanatory. They key to every trick is seeing yourself landing it before you try. Without this you will continue to crash. If your confidence is down, do a fast 180 and the skerp it to forward as soon as you land. This will get the feeling in your head.

pop

learning to pop my tricks instead of just hucking changed everything. Focus on being crouched before you come off the jump, POP, spin, and try to be aware in the air (spotting). Your body was disconnected that's why u didn't get it around. Pop and you'll be good.

I literally have this same issue. I know I need to keep looking in the direction I’m spinning but it’s honestly kind of difficult. I think I just need to commit to it.

An Olympic mogul skier once told

me your form at the lip should be the same whether you are spinning or not. I never really took that advice literally but it’s a good drill if you are having problems with your takeoff.

I just started landing 3s a few days ago and the main thing that got me from backseat to proper landing was popping hard, so I completely agree with this statement.
